Painting the baseboard?
Comments (3)I'm thinking YOU see all those splices but your guests never notice them. I remember Matt and Shari doing something different. They measured up a couple of inches from the baseboards and applied a narrow piece of wood trim. Then they painted the baseboards, up to, and including the small trim piece white. It gave the illusion that the baseboards were taller, heftier than they were. I think this might draw attention away from your splices, too. Just a thought. I've done tons of painting and always look for the shortcuts. I dont' take baseboards off to paint them. I do have a good steady hand, though. I slide a 10" flat blade trowel-thingy (I dunno what you call it but they're cheap at the hdwre store) under the baseboard, to protect the rug/floor, and paint over the top of that. Works like a charm. You need to clean off the blade every so often. Saves tons of work. I also always keep a bucket of water and a sponge at hand when I'm painting, to instantly clean up any oopses....See MorePainting Interior Trim - Baseboards, Doors & Frames, & Window Sills
Comments (2)The problem with doing touch ups or partially doing an area, is that it tends to make everything else dingy. From the standpoint of labor, it is also disproportionately labor intensive. You still have to protect the whole room, even if you decide not to do the ceilings, for example. Similarly, it is far easier and time efficient to do the woodwork before the walls, whether spraying or brushing the woodwork. Were I trying to save money, I would opt to do one or two rooms completely, rather than to do the whole house incompletely....See MorePainting doors, jambs, and baseboard darker than walls?

Comments (7)A picture of the whole room is what I would need to see. Are you planning drapes or what kind of window covering? I don’t think it would look right to paint the trim like the walls in fact I think the baseboards and the trim could be wider....See Moreigloochic
