Oh my gosh...look at my porch ceiling...
Comments (36)funcolors: I was SO HOPING you would see this ! I was going to post something to get your attention and approval. I have read your article in haint blue so many times and was going to send for a sample from you. Would you like a paint chip from this ? I would be more than glad to send you a piece of the wood with paint. This is like a treasure hunt for sure and I hit gold. What kind of paint would you suggest on a covered porch in the South ???? Are you kidding!? Yes, I'd love a sample and will reimburse you for shipping & handling! Thank you. I'm so excited that someone is sending *ME* a sample of Haint Blue! lol! SW Duration in matte would be a good choice. Duration's film actually goes on at the thickest mil rate than any other exterior brand. Thickest mil rate meaning the paint film is nice and fat. And that can be a good thing for exterior substrates (surfaces). The haint blue story has been so incredibly interesting. I've heard from people all over the world -- really it's amazing. The store has been very helpful because I was getting a ton of phone calls and emails. A few aren't a problem but it kind of started cramping my time management. And that's why I created the store -- I just don't have time to talk to everyone who wants details about Haint Blue. I'd be nice if I had that kind of time because it's very fun hearing all the stories but reality creeps in. Moving to the southwest, I've learned about Taos and Mayan blue as well. I don't feel confident writing about them yet and I really don't feel confident enough to create my own interpretations of the colors. Maybe this summer. I dunno, not sure....See MoreFollow up question to the blue front porch ceiling
Comments (23)rmkitchen, love your porch. It especially looks great with brick. When I pulled in my driveway yesterday, I made a point of looking at my front porch ceiliing, which I never have before and to my amazement, it was visible from the driveway. It is white beadboard, but in vinyl so I think it will look great painted.I will probably do a very pale blue because I have to be careful with my blue shutters that it doesn't clash. memazz, you can paint the vinyl. We had our whole house painted many years ago. I didn't like the shade of green that it was and it would have been out of our budget to replace the siding. Never any peeling, has held up great. Never realized there was such an interest in blue porch ceiling or even that they existed until I read jjean's post and loved the look. Thanks!...See Moredoes a blue porch ceiling deter spiders
Comments (4)skmom...Bumping it up - Did you find a solution to the spider problem? I'd like to know also. We just built a house on a lake and have 75ft covered patio and we have a big spider problem. The ceiling is 11 ft off the floor of the patio and trying to keep the spiders and their little cotton candy webs/nests...whatever they are...is driving me batty - not to mention they're staining the ceiling.. Nature is great and I love it...spiders not so much...SPIDERS = CREEPY! P.S. What part of the country are you in?...I'm in the Panhandle of Florida....See MoreCat ruined my favorite chair
Comments (31)As a person who has had a lifetime of having cats...18 with the two new additions, I feel your pain. I had to list them to make sure I wasn't forgetting anyone. Simon, Pumpkin, Casey, Cricket, Maddie,Louie, Emma, Minnie, Nellie, Annie, Peeper, lily, Henry ,Phoebe, Bernie, Poppy, Piper in no particular order except at the beginning and end. Of these, I had one prolific pee-er. It can be many factors, medical , emotional and just because they can. Maddie was my pee er and after vet's visits and other modifications which were futile, one day I took her in the carriage house empty of cars. It's a very large building and it was summer and a trial for a day or two. I put her food and water, toys and bed and litter box. I had thought maybe she was being bullied. Nope, she peed out of the box when there was NO earthly reason. I have one or two who pooped beside the box even though it was cleaned every day. Cats are mysterious creatures. Three years ago when I found the Maine coon I thought maybe that's why he was dumped. Nope, perfect habits from day one, All five litter boxes are in the basement and so when I got the new girls in June, Piper did pee on a rug because this was all new to her being in a cage for over four months but as soon as I carried her down to the basement, she caught on, Since two of my cats are declawed(not by me) my only problem now is dealing with piper clawing inappropriate things but she's good about using scratching posts. I think inappropriate elimination is the number one reason cats are dumped. I am such a cat person, I could never live a minute without a few, but will admit it's a nasty problem. I'm sorry this was rambling with really no solution. I have used Natures Miracle with limited results. I think a change in their lives...cats hate change and new things is a big factor too. Good luck....See Morededtired
