Thank you all!! Cathy-you made me cry....its the first year with no phone call from mom and yes she would have sung to me. Really having a tough time with that today. I know she is singing and I feel her with me today. Its been a very busy day here. Amy has been home for fall break and it was her last day here so we went shopping for all her "stuff" to take back. Then I helped Frank close the pool....yes we got a pool-it was the last thing on our summer list and by waiting we got a great deal. Sadly we didn't get the chance to use it. Just put it up and closed it. Finally I seeded the front lawn and around the pool...been meaning to do it a few days now. I am looking for another good rainy day to help me out LOL!! I am going to pop open a cold one in a few and watch dwts results!! Thanks again for all the kind wishes! Susie

lol...my goal was to get all the blocks done for the rest of the year by the beginning of August. Instead, I've been working on finishing a row quilt round robin project that my guild sponsored. (Watch for a future post...I want you all to see the finished 6 projects!!!) Thanks to this string, I think I'll work on the August block today. THANKS for getting me back on track! Anne/Mum, Your block arrived yesterday...thank you so much, I just love the center print with the hints of metallic thread throughout - btw, my postman made a point of letting me know that I had something from Australia!!! - I guess that's unusual in our neighborhood. Judy/Juttz - Don't worry about dates and such...I know only too well about not being able to sit at the machine very long - between sciatica last week and shoulder bursitis the week before. I have two quilts in the process of meandering and still don't have the strength in my right shoulder to manage the weight of either quilt. Good thing they're not perishable! However, it has forced me to address smaller projects and as a result, I'm almost finished with the rest of the year's B-day blocks...one more to go; it'll get done tonight. I'm also hoping to get some help with uploading pictures from my youngest daughter (home from school for the weekend) - wish me luck. Helen

I have a book called, "The Doll's Dressmaker." It is loaded with patterns for many sizes of dolls. It includes patterns for several types of hats and bonnets, as well as instructions for making accessories and patterns to sew about anything you want. It is THE book if you want to sew doll clothes. You won't need to buy a pattern again. Take your doll's measurements and compare them to the pattern you want to use. If the pattern doesn't fit, figure a measurement that will fit. Figure out the percentage of difference, i.e. "I need a pattern that is 25% larger/smaller." Then scan the pattern into your computer and increase or decrease the pattern size by the percent you need. Print, and you've got a pattern you can use.
