Donna, Congratulations on a beautiful quilt! I took Flower Power several years ago but I didn't finish my project. You are inspiring me to pull it out again. Despite the fact that I didn't finish my flower, I use upside-down applique from time to time, it's a great technique. Once again, your quilt is gorgeous. You should be very proud. Lola

Well we got good news and bad news. Actually a couple of both. Good news is he is healing well. His incisions look good. We were hoping he would be out of the brace in a week or so. She said he would have to wear it for 3 weeks. Today is the 11th day since his surgery so almost 2 weeks already. But today she said he would need to wear it for the next 3 weeks till the next visit. And still no weight on it. She said he would probably be trying to walk by the next visit but to try and keep him off of it as much as possible. So bad news was the brace for 3 more weeks and still no pressure or weight on the leg. And she said she may have to take out the flexible rods they but in at 2 months instead of six months. The rods are inserted into the bone by his knee, but the ends of them are not in the bone they are in the muscle and fat tissue around the area. Because he is so skinny he doesn't have much of that to cushion the ends of the rod. Because he is so skinny it is causing major pain for him at the tips of the rod. She said for healing he needs to have them in 6 months but if the pain level doesn't decrease she will have to take them out and then he will be on restricted activity for the following 4 to 6 months while the bone heals completely. And the chances for reinjury significantly increase, because he won't have the support in there anymore. So for know it is just wait and see. When she checked him today she touched the area where the break happened and he didn't have any pain. But she touched the area of the incisions and rod tips and he about jumped out of his skin and started screaming. For her she said this was not a great sign. Hopefully this will get better and he last the entire 6 months needed. And she told him he couldn't play football this year so he is depressed. She told me at least a year maybe longer before he can play on the flag team like his brothers did. He was not happy about this. Anyway that was our update. Thank you all for the well wishes. and to day2day. The other block is just a pinwheel type block. I don't know the name, I got the pattern from a book I have. The diamond looking blocks are just a four patch block set on point and the pinwheel block is just stripped peiced 1 1/2 inch strips of white and color. Then cut them into 2 1/12 inch peices and resew them into the pinwheel pattern. They make a 4 1/2 inch block set on point. The book had praire points on the binding but I just didn't have enough energy to attempt that. Amy

Congratulations on a job well done. I love traditional quilts and especially when they are scrappy from your stash. The border fabric is perfect to bring it together. If you don't point out the imperfections no one would notice. I love it. Jayne TFS
