My father/partner and one of my designers went to collect a design award and walk the floor...

Fortunately they knew the Awards show would be a let down compared to years in the past...which it was.

Wish I'd of gone, but instead I had a AWESOME time with my kids on a dirtbiking campout weekend at the Sam Houston Nat'l Forest. I'd guess about a 70 miles of trailriding plus the quality time with my kids was worth missing the show over. To bad I grenaded my 426's engine, after my upcoming rebuild it would have been cheaper to go to Vegas and write off half of my expenses.
I'm curious, how many of you builders are going on Club P or the Pentair trip?
I'll buy the first table round for a forum builder and his people at the Club P trip. This year will be great, I look forward to the bike riding around the resort. Hopefully I'll get the big BMW 1200 and not some Honda or Suzuki V-Twin.

Las Vegas can be a bad place for write-offs depending on who your accountant is.

The floor was disappointing, but we had limited time and didn't search out the awards/winners pictures or display. It wasn't on the exhibit floor that we saw. Natural, can you post a picture of your winner? It's a request, so maybe the board monitors will be kind....... Barb

I found both the exhibits and the educational component somewhat disappointing, but it was my first pool show and perhaps my expectations were too high. It was a good opportunity for me to meet some suppliers who I had only spoken with on the phone before.

It's a cantilevering upper pool that spans over a lower freeform pool. Swim up bar, with the dry side having a plexiglass roof as seen below. Designed by one of my guys, Dane Palmero.

Barb, yes you can... it's a shallow tiled sun shelf, about 6" deep.

Racket, no... the owner ended up putting some equip/lighting transformers behind our wall, and drystacked some painted split face block to form that little wing you can see to hide what was put in there. Didnt butt it up to close or really tie it in well....at least not yet as far as i know.

I've done everything I can for a long time to break into the truly upper end Houston market but have always been in the business of building a bunch of almost upper end pools.
Way to go for both of you guys. You both build really beautiful pools.

I'm still curious if any builders on the forum are going to the Club P trip this year. I confirmed my bikes for the trip and just as I expected I'm ending up on some Jap V-Twins. I've google earth'd the Monte Carlo area and already put together a couple of sweet rides in the foothills of the Alps in SE France and NW Italy. It looks like with a few hour ride I could hit the southern Swiss Alps too. To bad I'm going to have to ride in Winter gear, I hate those binding bunched up riding suits. Thankfully in SE Texas I never hardly ever have to break it out.

Thanks Kelly....some 5 or 6 years ago all we did was high-end, now we're all across the board, building simple smaller stuff with high-end quality, which, in this economy can be hard to convince people of doing.

I will not be on the Club-P trip, although I grew up going to nearly every Caretaker incentive trip prior to the sale to Polaris. The first year after the sale, I did go to Banff...haven't been since. Did you go on trips prior to Polaris (Zodiac) owning Caretaker?

I really wanted to go, I am a Platnum member so I had plenty of points. Problem is the three year old. Not a kid friendly event, and my wife nor my son would last 6+ days apart. Have fun on the trip I am sure you will have an awsome time, they always do everything first rate. Let me know how the japs ride.

My wife and kids have only gone to the Disney World events.
We always have an extra room or two for my employees and spouses who come but their children stay home with other family.
Wherever we go I stay alone in my room, rent a bike, and ride for the week.
Here's my scooter for this trip. It's not as fast as my ZX10R Ninjas or as handsome as the Fatboys but all in all it's a decent looking ride. My biggest fear was that I'd end up on one of those Jap V-Twins that looks like a Harley but it isn't.

Thankfully we don't have any cliffs in SE Texas, just flat farmland and piney woods.
The Ninja's are the two fastest of my fleet of 15 bikes and growing. One of my college twins now wants to go street riding with her Dad and Bro, boy I sure hope this doesn't ruin it for us boys. This TDM-900 would be just the type of bike I'd get, sporty looking and quick enough to get her a speeding ticket, but PATHETICALLY SLOW compared to Michael's and my rides, LOL!!!
Quite honestly I'm shocked too, I'd of never dreamed that I'd have to fork out over 5 bones for an extreme cold weather riding suit today just for this ride!!!
I just didn't have the confidence in my cold weather gear, it's really for moderately cold weather riding like our winters here.
I fly out tomorrow to get all bundled up and try those roads out, hopefully the locals are friendly to bike riders.
My wife bought me a new digital camera today in her Black Friday shopping frenzy, I'll try to do better than I have here since I won my bet and get you members some pics.
I'm certain it'll be AWESOME!!!

Don't worry about. I actually got a good laugh out of it.
The funny thing is that even the perception of other types of cyclists rubs against fellow enthusiasts.
If we're sport biking as a group, at a meeting place some will laugh about how the RUB's (rich urban bikers) go slow and aren't real riders because they absolutely pasted them to the road on some vicious passes. Riding with the RUB crowd they'll dog the Organ Donors (sportbike riders) just as equally. In dirtbiking the Hare Scramblers will dog the Motocrossers because of their lack of endurance at race pace with statements like a 5 lap race isn't even enough time to get your heart rate up and the Motocrossers will retaliate with things like those boys don't even know how to jump.
I race and ride all types of bikes and events and love every one of them.
Later when going over the results I'll laugh at myself and with them about how guys like me make the front half of the class possible. The truth is that if you put in your best effort, without riding over your head, your a winner for competing. It's much more fun to dice in the middle or rear of the pack than to sit in the bleachers with the spectators and watch another man take your position.

No, it's the motor from a '72 Kawi H2, a 750 2 stroke triple. It's going in the rolling chassis in the last pic.
