Saw this magazine in a waiting room and LOVED it. Any good sites for bargains on subscriptions?l

I personally was not impressed it, but I am sure it has some good features. You might check Amazon

We are building a new house and I have been wrestling with this same question. (I LOVE Emtek's Old Town crystal knobs, which come in a myriad of finishes and can be found online for 30-40% off the suggested retail.) I was flipping through a magazine last week with a big spread on Sarah Richardson's farmhouse and I realized that was exactly the look I wanted. She mixed finishes beautifully in her house. Her hinges and rectangular door rosettes are either dark oil rubbed bronze or matte black with white porcelain knobs and she has distressed gold, oil rubbed bronze, wood and painted light fixtures throughout the house. The bathrooms have silver finish bath hardware and most of the curtain rods are dark. Everything has a collected over time, not matchy matchy look to it. Gorgeous!

I was at TJMaxx/Homegoods yesterday, and that mustache motif was printed on lots of stuff. I think it's vile, and have seen it semi-adopted by teenagers around here, who seem to view it ironically. I wonder if it originated in some anime show or something on-line. When my teenage style expert gets herself out of bed, I will ask, and will post any insights. I've been collecting little bird figurines and bird printed fabrics most of my life. The only impact the trend has had is that it's much easier to find things now, and it looks as if I'm trying to be trendy with my birds all over the place, but I'm not. I also have a sunburst mirror in my living room, which I bought over 20 years ago in an antique store. The problem with them being so ubiquitous now is that the next step is for them to become passe, and I love my mirror. I'm not ever taking it down. I saw a fiddleleaf fern in a blog, and was going to buy one, but not now.

I don't subscribe to the ones you've asked about but have perused them lately as I've spent a lot of time in doctor's offices. I would choose Better Homes over Good Housekeeping for decor ideas & inspiration. I love browsing through magazines and keep a stash of old favorites for reference. I've cut down on subscriptions because I was finding (last 5 yrs. or so) fewer and fewer informative articles and inspiring photo spreads and not just more ads but more & more pages devoted to product placement, "Editor's Picks", "Staff Favorites", etc. Seems a waste to own them when I can blow through the content in a half hour and toss it in the recycle bin because I don't find anything worth saving. House & Home, a Canadian publication, is my current favorite. And I prefer the paper copy experience more than the e-version, so I spring for that one. House Beautiful, too, though that's starting to go down in content lately, IMO.

It gets extremely POOR reviews. Service is sketchy to say the least. They sometimes even "run out" of magazines some months, so they have to extend your subscription. I had never heard of such a thing for a magazine I subscribed to. Don't waste your money. I'm not even crazy about their channel on TV anymore. It's not the same as it was 10 or 15 years ago. (But, of course...what IS?)

Go to your local library and reveiw several copies and then see if you really want it.. I don't get the magazine and I do wonder if it's just as easy to surf the website.

I took it for 2 years but not renewing...liked it at first, but I am not interested using all of those extremely bright colors....And I got my house built and furnished...and not interested in changing anything soon.
