thoroseal bond beam question

Friday was shotcrete day and on the advice of my plaster contractor I had the shotcrete crew carefully level the bond beam using a lazer level. I want to set my concrete cantilevered coping blocks using thinset--that way no mortar joint to crack. I'm not using waterline tile. Yes I know, the pebbletec/plaster will look funny out of water and will be hard to clean, etc., but I can live with that. And besides we dislike the look and expense of tile. I have a couple of questions:

Should I coat the top and sides of the bond beam with thoroseal to just below the water line before setting the coping? And how soon can I set my coping blocks? The shotcrete guy seemed to think a week of curing would be fine. This is a narrow rectangular lap pool and when I get a breathing space, I'll post some pictures.

Thanks for the help.
