which parson's chair from Carrington should I choose?

So I finally took the plunge and painted my round/oval pedestal farm table. The base was white and the top hard rock natural maple. Now the pedestal and apron are expresso with a warm black glaze. It actually looks okay enough that I will go ahead and keep it and buy parson's from Carrington Court Direct.

The fabric I will use is a contemporary geometric in a 2.25" repeat. The background it a black with a lot of brown undertones, and a straw color that is very similar to the maple color. I think this will work well enough even though my room is transitional or soft contemporary. The main thing I think you will notice is the chairs and not so much the table base.

So given that, which style parson's would you choose? (I'm looking at the top row). Is the Kensington TOO modern seeing as I'm using my old table? Any leg can be put on any chair. Should I go for a curved leg since my table is sort of curvey?

It would help to see the table, but just looking at the chairs, I like the first one with tapered legs. Not a big fan of curved legs on new furniture.

Funny, I do actually have two leather chairs in there now. It looks great as a formal lr, but I can't seem to make the arrangement work for watching tv. Right now the tv is against the wall behind the two chairs. So you have to view the tv between the chairs. It isn't horrible, but because the sofa is so small only 2 people can really watch the tv at a time. The chairs aren't really that comfy anyway for tv watching. So I was thinking of rearranging the room so that the tv could be seem from either the couch or new loveseat and move one of those chairs into the bedroom and leave the other one. I've written about my strange lr arrangement problem before. Here is a link to that posting. My lr has been rearranged since that last post. Now the couch is centered in front of the window (but away from it, not against) and the chairs are on the other side of the fireplace facing the couch. Let me know what you think. juddgirl - I've gone back and forth on the table height too! We have an antique oak clawfoot table with a big leaf in it so when hubby has his game group over they have lots of room to spread out. But the table is also in front of the picture windows which go almost to the ground so I would love to have a lower profile in there, just a pair of chairs with a low table. DH says he's okay either way but I fear he might not feel the same way once the table was gone. But comfort is a big deal too because when they're gaming, they're here for 8-10 hours. I'm thinking I might just order two chairs to see if I like them and then I can always order two more. We really only "need" two but I like the look of four.

I've ordered many swatches of fabric from them and they were all very nice quality fabrics. Was very impressed with the customer service over the phone; if you have specific questions or concerns, call them. They also sent me samples of the nail head trims they offer. I think CC makes good products at reasonable prices too. As far as neutrals go, again, I would suggest you go on the wesbite, check out the options, and order swatches. You need that fabric in your hot little hand and in the room the chairs will be. When I found a swatch I liked, I called back & told them it was too small, could they send me something larger? They sent me a huge sample that was really helpful. They will work with you!

What is your definition of "decent price"? Also faux leather or bi-cast leather is different than real leather. Overstock has quite a few bicast or leatherette chairs. They have good shipping and the reviews are helpful. These would be your discount price chairs since they're often in sets of two. http://www.overstock.com/parson-leather-chair,/k,/results.html?sort=Avg.%20Customer%20Review&searchtype=Header My daughter purchased from Arhaus before, I think she got the Capris side chair. The Aiden chair is another to look at. Albany for the modern leg and clean lines, Manhattan for the clean lines and button back, or Modesto for the simple leg but nice curve to the back.

JMHO...I like the Albany...since there are curves in your table base and also in your bar stools. But I think any of those in the first row would work. Glad to hear your table turned out to your liking...congratulations. :-)

Ha ha- no consensus! Well I'm happy that the table is workable. That is where I was stuck. I had a hard time justifying getting a new one when I really like the top. Its a much nicer version of what became "ubiquitous". Particularly in a recession, my thought is its not perfect, but "perfect" wasn't going to float my boat that much anyway. I'm saving a lot on the project-so even doing an expensive fabric I'm coming out good.

I like the table and bet it looks wonderful-good for you! So, I will defer to greater minds and say go with the Albany, although I really like the idea of the Modesto with your table. Can't wait to see finished pics.

I reacted instantly to Kensington...because it is simple and square, as a foil to your round table; and because its back is not high, and its basic silhouette is a bit lighter than some of the others; and because it was easy to imagine it looking very handsome with the fabric you describe.

I would stay away from arms, unless they will slide easily under the apron of your table.

Hm. Still not decided. What do you think about the "seat border" on some of the chairs and the lack of "seat border" on the Albany?
