What do you think about mixing faucet/hardware finishes?

I am leaning toward an oil rubbed bronze bridge faucet, but want to do stainless steel knobs for the cabinets, which will be off white. Granite TBD (leaning toward jet mist) and wood floors.

Please let me know if you've mixed your finishes, and if you like the results. I know I've seen this look but I am soo tired and can't seem to find the links now.

There has been a lot of conversation on this topic, if you do a forum search (loc at the bottom of the page) you'll find a lot of threads to read through.

I wouldn't do it any other way. If you used the same finishes, it would look too matchy matchy. I used a brushed nickel faucet with medium brown hardware.

Thank you all for your help! I was leaning towards the Bistro prior to the post and your responses were overwhelming for that option. My decorator showed me the Fiore, and while I thought it was pretty, I wasn't sure that was what I wanted in my kitchen, though maybe in a separate area it would work. Bistro it is! Now I have to select some knobs to go with! In regards to finish, I will have some S/S appliances but will have a polished nickel faucet, marble countertops, and creamy cabinets. I am assuming either polished or satin nickel would work.

The counter tops were installed today...what do you think? Many of you offered wonderful, thoughtful, comments about whether to go with Persa Pearl on the island or absolute black. We agonized over the decision and in the end decided to go with the black; I think we are pleased with the way it turned out. The extra thickness of the marble for the island looks good i think. The persa on the countertops ofcourse have great movement...in any case, let me know if you like? another view where you can see the persa on the near counter as well as the far.. a closer look at the persa pearl on the counter and here is how the corner piece turned out... So, what do you think?

Personally, I think brass will be out fairly soon. That being said, if you are just talking about a few things, you could change out again in 5-8 years, go for it. I love polished nickel, though. I bet it was pricey at the time you bought it. My fave for kitchen is brushed nickel/stainless b/c it matches stainless appliances. I admit I am a matchy person, though. I am a fan of brass and put real brass doorknobs in the house I built b/c I think it is a classic, but I prefer for door hardware. And, the brass this "current" is more of a brushed gold. Long story short, go for it if you want. I would be less encouraging if you were talking about doing all your shower heads in the new brass. Harder to change than a kitchen faucet...

As with all good design, matching everything exactly isn’t the right call. You want your space to be curated and custom, and if you choose the same hardware throughout the house (especially in different rooms), your home will feel builder-grade and boring. Your hardware should be sisters, not twins—meaning sharing some similar elements but not the exact same. For example, if you have a more modern aesthetic, pick 2-3 hardware colors and choose all modern hardware. That way, the space will feel cohesive and custom without feeling boring. My cabinets are off white. My faucet is a brushed stainless steel and my knobs and cup pulls will be Spanish Antique Pewter, which is a mix of iron and silver finish.

Thank you all. So the answer seems to be a resounding "yes."

Now I have a follow up question. The new window needs hardware and screen. We are painting the window trim similar to the cabinet color (an off white, brookhaven alpine white, which is a little grey). SO, if I go w/ oil rubbed bronze and ss knobs and pulls for the cabinets, should the window hw be stainless or oil rubbed bronze (it is pella, the color is actually "brown," but it seems close enough to the bronze.

hmm, now you made me stop and think. My window is directly above the sink. It has original hardware that is similar to ORB but more brownish (probably like your Pella). As I said my faucet is brushed SS and I have no plans to change the window hardware. So, I guess that makes 3 finishes in my kitchen :o

I think I would leave it brownish if your sink faucet is near your window.
