What do you think about mixing faucet/hardware finishes?

I am leaning toward an oil rubbed bronze bridge faucet, but want to do stainless steel knobs for the cabinets, which will be off white. Granite TBD (leaning toward jet mist) and wood floors.

Please let me know if you've mixed your finishes, and if you like the results. I know I've seen this look but I am soo tired and can't seem to find the links now.

There has been a lot of conversation on this topic, if you do a forum search (loc at the bottom of the page) you'll find a lot of threads to read through.

I wouldn't do it any other way. If you used the same finishes, it would look too matchy matchy. I used a brushed nickel faucet with medium brown hardware.

I agree with snookums. Has an industrial feel, and the lines make it feel contemporary to me. The shape of the spokes on the handles look contemporary to me, versus vintage. But the faucet itself could pass for anything from contemporary/industrial to genuinely vintage.

No reason why you can't stain or paint it the color you want, they are two distinct rooms. Even in kitchens you can have different color cabinets.

What do you think about mixing two different size cabinet pulls?

We used 8" handles on the majority of our cabs and drawers--some doors/drawers are larger and some smaller. However, the 12" wide drawer next to the range got a 5" handle, as the 8" would have been a bit much IMHO. We also used three 12" handles in our kitchen; on the wide lift-up door above our fridge, on the DW, and on trash can cab. The best way to tell how you'll like the look of a particular size is to hold samples in the different sizes next to the doors and drawers. That's how we ended up with the sizes we ended up choosing.

I have some similar rush seat chairs. They make nice cushions for them if you find them uncomfortable. I like mine but my Mom always complained they were uncomfortable. She was short and they were a stretch for her. FYI, if you wanted to make the arm chair into one that matched the other two, a good woodworker could take the arms off. But only a good one . . . like my husband. I'm debating taking the arms off of my two dining set end chairs to give them a narrower profile against the table in the tiny dining room at my house.

My cabinets are off white. My faucet is a brushed stainless steel and my knobs and cup pulls will be Spanish Antique Pewter, which is a mix of iron and silver finish.

Thank you all. So the answer seems to be a resounding "yes."

Now I have a follow up question. The new window needs hardware and screen. We are painting the window trim similar to the cabinet color (an off white, brookhaven alpine white, which is a little grey). SO, if I go w/ oil rubbed bronze and ss knobs and pulls for the cabinets, should the window hw be stainless or oil rubbed bronze (it is pella, the color is actually "brown," but it seems close enough to the bronze.

hmm, now you made me stop and think. My window is directly above the sink. It has original hardware that is similar to ORB but more brownish (probably like your Pella). As I said my faucet is brushed SS and I have no plans to change the window hardware. So, I guess that makes 3 finishes in my kitchen :o

I think I would leave it brownish if your sink faucet is near your window.
