Paint color suggestion for basement?
Comments (6)We wanted something similar--not kid-colored, but warm and not too dark. Ours will be half playroom half media room, but we also have only small, high windows. We went with Benjamin Moore's Monroe Bisque. It's a pretty, warm tan with a slight goldish cast. We used a 50% formula in the stairwell to decrease the "tunnel effect," and used 100% throughout the rest of the rooms. We painted our ceilings bright white (for maximum light reflection) and the trim White Dove. I don't have pictures since we've painted--it's still a bit of a mess down there, but I can try to snap some over the next few days when we clean up. Hope that helps....See MoreLight/bright paint color for dark/dreary basement?
Comments (11)Red and green are complementary colors, so I think with the right shade of green, it would look great with the fireplace. I like the celery green pictured above. Don't know if you've thought about lighting, but several florescent or LED fixtures, with color corrected bulbs, would really brighten up your space. We had our offices down in the basement in our previous home and without those lights, it would have been a dreary, depressing place to work. With the lights, it was as bright as our west facing rooms upstairs with windows. We didn't notice that there were no windows. If you do decide to add additional lighting, you might want to do your painting afterward because the colors are going to appear very different with and without lighting....See MoreSuggestions for basement paint color PICS
Comments (8)Love the rug! A great inspiration piece. As for the barstool color, I see one that looks like a burgundy/mauve, and the others that are tan? How many are which color? Have you considered recovering the stools so that you are not limited in your decorating choices? I would think about using the teal for the walls, perhaps a softer shade in most places, and a deeper shade behind the bar? Looks like that teal is more greyed down, so it would be very pretty with the oak. I would avoid any strong golden tones for paint given all the wood. Looks like kind of a plum and a grey/plum in the rug as well - what about something in that family for one of the rooms? Any chance we could see more pix that include the fireplace and all the rooms being painted? What other furniture is in there that has to work?...See MoreNeutral/Warm paint color options for room with no natural light
Comments (9)2700K is very dim for a kitchen, and very yellow. You're asking for help on paint that won't make the room gloomy and dark but you don't realize that bulbs that are 2700K are gloomy and dark. (for a kitchen) I have already installed the 2700k recessed lights so unfortunately I won't be able to update those. Why not? You do know recessed bulbs can be changed, yes? just switch them out for the 4000. you'll be amazed at how much better your work area is to see and how much brighter your paint colors will appear. (you can buy a pack of bulbs that fit your recessed cans at Costco for cheap)...See MoreUser
