I don't know where you are located, but in CA Dunn-Edwards stores have periodic seminars on choosing colors. I think something in the warm carmel-type colors might be nice. We have DE gourmet honey. There was one, graham cracker, I think, that was really nice, but too dark for DH.

If you can get some sort of pics of the cabinet, the granite, floor and backsplash it will help people a lot. They can be just "swatches" - a picture of a door, a sample of the granite, a few tiles.

putty or greige?

That sounds very similar to the color scheme of my old house...natural maple cabs, Tropical Brown granite, a travertine-type backsplash...open to the family room. I hired a decorator who chose the color "Epic" from Valspar at Lowe's. I just tried to look it up, but the Lowe's site is down. It was a warm green. Everyone loved the color. Hope this helps!

Have you posted this question on the decorating forum?
I ask because they have so many great people who know
color. I have a few ideas but it is hard to know the
specific shade of terracotta or the stain on your
maple. Instead I posted some light maple kitchens
with similar counters. Maybe look at these and get some
inspiration for your own home.

Here is a granite similar to yours and light maple cabs

Here is red paint but the counters are not as dark
as the tan brown you are looking at. Very nice.

This is a soft white by Farrow and Ball paint
Similar counter to you, again not sure of your light stain.

clash with your terracotta floors.
