Beadboard Backsplash & wood hood- your thoughts?
Comments (89)... and don't forget fancy! lol I agree about the blue. I went to Anthropologie today to look at some of those little accessories (jars, sugar bowl, etc) in yellow and aqua and brought the blue bird fabric. Most of them worked well but some of them were too green. It's a pretty blue. I don't think I'll do any other fabrics with turquoise- just if I find a good blue like the birds. It's sooo cute. I love it! My mom loves it too and agrees these work better than the original yellow/black/grey ones. Other ones I showed her she said were too french/formal. She has a good eye for decorating : ) The little bird fabric might be busy for the 6' window but that's why I thought maybe for the lights and then white with a bit of yellow (maybe the pom poms) for the window. I get the dandelions tomorrow (fabric) in the turquoise and girly blue. I think the print is too large though compared to those cute little birds. Maybe in the DR though if I do pillows. We'll see! I liked the tile even more today. They gave me 4 to take home woo-hoo!...See MoreWhat Backsplash Options Work Best?
Comments (12)Hi, thanks for your feedback. I have added a few more pictures of option #s 2, 3, & 4. Option 2 option 3 option 4 Breezygirl, I too like the marble but I don't want to make it too busy. I was hoping that there might be support for that little mosaic, but this input really helps. Remodelfla, I love the look of the frosted glass example I have, it almost perfectly matches my wall color which is very light greenish gray. I am thinking that it is too contemporary, but I could be just holding back! Francoise47, I am striving for timelessness in this kitchen. This remodel has been a long time coming and will be a long time til the next. Option #4 is a favorite of mine because of the subtle style. And MrsHanson I really appreciate your take on #2, can you tell me more about why you would not go with #2? CeltinNE thanks for your comment, the soapstone is something I have wanted for 10 years ever since I first saw it in a nice causal restaurant in Ames, Iowa. I recently asked one of the owners how it has held up. He is very happy with it. He would not use it in the restroom lavatory sinks again, they have streaked. Theirs was out of a Vermont company and it is soft. They have it installed in the restrooms as sink and counter, at the bar counter and behind the bar, and at the coffee bar area both the customer bar and behind the bar. They keep it oiled. Oh, and the color of my paint is BenMoore "Titanium" a very light gray green. Looks great in my north facing room....See MoreWill this Mosaic Tile Backsplash Work with Bianco Antico Granite
Comments (32)I agree that the pencil mosaic tile would be too much with the granite. A simpler option as suggested many times in the thread is the way to go. I have also heard that pencil tile was kind of on its way "out". I get what you mean about subway tile. However, I found this image on Pinterest and it really spoke to me. Still subway tile but with a creative twist. Laying the first row vertically where the tile meets the granite and horizontal up to the cabinets takes away some of the boring and makes it more interesting. I think it would compliment your granite and cabinets nicely....See MoreWill Dallas White Granite & carrara marble Backsplash work here?
Comments (45)You could, but it's a checkerboard for lack of a better word... I don't see it in your space at all. Your kitchen floor/cabinets are warm, your counter is cool even though beautiful. You don't need grout, "jumping" out from the tile.... "popping" out from the tile color. Too busy in my opinion for what I think you want. Herringbone in that size would take a TON of cuts and you would need a person to install that is STELLAR and well versed in doing herringbone with such a large tile. You may want to look for, "herringbone" there is a lot at tile bar. Not going to be as large in scale though. Given the width of the space between your counters and cupboards that size would be a ton of waste going with 12" even if you found a stellar well versed tile person. If you lean herringbone you might look at their samples at tile bar or even a chevron which is not to terribly different. Not just tile bar, but fire clay is another site or Zanger. This is from the Zanger website... it's chevron. Remember, your cupboards and floors are warm and you chose a cool tone counter. I don't know their sample program at Zanger as well. http://www.walkerzanger.com/collections/products.php?view=style&mat=Zen&coll=Shift...See Morehappy2learn
