how deep is you dish hutch (to the counter)?
Comments (14)thanks for the replies so far. Here is my range wall if that helps you form any opinions on how deep it should be. The one things is I certainly won't plan on really using that counter space but I can see how it would be nice to stack dinner plates in front of it out of the dishwasher and then lift them into the hutch. [img][/img] This is a first pass design with the hutch. I am adding a drawer and probably will go with glass. In adding the hutch we needed to shift the range over.....so I lost one drawer bank but increased the sizes of the others (before I had 2 25" wide drawer banks and two 18" wide drawer banks, and now I have one 32" wide and 2 27" wide). Also I am looking at extending the cabinetry out a little towards the slider (seen to the right of the plan) and dividing those inches to each side of the range, making even wider drawer banks, but not adding drawer banks. Is that a good approach? thanks! This post was edited by illinigirl on Tue, Feb 4, 14 at 18:42...See More30 inch deep counter tops
Comments (15)Thank you mj! I do love to bake and even though it is only the 2 of us I get carried away and then freeze for later :) My soapstone has one tiny chip in it from dropping a glass out of the cabinet. I forget it is there except when I wipe the counter. I have never oiled my stone. It has darkened naturally over time from all the use. I can see the difference as there is a piece of the same stone next to the ovens for a landing zone and it has remained very light. The stone in my sunroom has also remained light w/o oil. My soapstone is Green Mountain and looks exactly like the example on their website. Not many veins . It has proven to be very durable. I love it for kneading bread and rolling out dough as well as pasta etc. I think it is a perfect countertop choice but there are lots of threads here with differing opinions. I do believe that you have to have a quality product/install. Makes all the difference. I hope you will post pics of your baking soon !! c...See More15' deep kitchen wall cabinets with 24' deep countertops? Help!
Comments (23)I know this is an old thread, but if anyone sees this and has faced my issue, I sure could use some ideas. We currently have 14" deep uppers from the 1930"s, which we love, and are currently in a long overdue remodel, which could involve up to 15" deep uppers. Our problem is the corner wall cabinet. Neither angle, at 24" sides, or eazy reach style, can come with 15" sides. While a 27" angle comes with 15" sides, I don't have 27" of wall space. I have considered an online RTA who will make a frameless easy reach in any size, have a face frame/door made by my cabinet supplier, but with 15" sides, I would have a door opening of approximately 12" I believe. Does this sound feasible?...See MoreProtruding Hood over deep 30" countertop - looks weird?
