I'd try to pull out the teal-y blue.

Love the idea of teal. Would look stunning with that bedding (love the bedding BTW!).

If you want to go winey-purple, a deep, yet bright (?) color is Elderberry Wine (BM Color Stories). Gorgeous, luscious color. We had considered it for a small room, but we decided to go with original light/aqua vision instead. But boy oh boy is that Elderberry Wine a stunner!

You can use any tone in the pillows and have a successful room. They don't have to be an exact match, just in the ballpark. For me it would be an aubergine.

The lighter blue --- on my monitor it's more like a greyish/blue; maybe BM Yarmouth Blue.

I wouldn't do blue unless you had white trim in the room. But that's just me, I'm not a fan of blue walls unless the woodwork is white. And here I am sitting in a light blue room with dark woodwork! lol

With the bold colors of the duvet set, I'd do a creamy white. Your choice of accent colors will be endless, and the room will be a bit more cheery.

Is this a different guest room or did you get different bedding since the earlier post about the headboard and wall color being too similar? I like the new bedding -- just wondering if it is replacing the other.

You could go as light and neutral as the creamy background of the print, possibly a shade darker, but you don't want to get too close to the headboard color. You could stay neutral but add a bit more drama by looking at the taupe.grey/green tone in which case I'd probably look a shade or two larger.

My favorite colors in there are the blue and the plum, so I'd be playing them up somewhere. I can see others pulling out the orange tone or the gold -- even the darker grey/green. You really can play with any of those colors. I do think that a a guest room can be dark and cozy as long as you have good reading light and good light for dressing or makeup -- which might be in your bathroom.

I think an aubergine as well. You know I love BM Velvet Cloak! But that might just be too dark in there...

I'd look at the greens from the BM Affinity deck--Anjou Pear, Agave or Wasabi.

I have never found a blue I like on the walls. But that's just me. Although I did try Adagio and I really did love it, but it was wrong where I was trying it. I would consider that color in a room.

My first thought were the three greens bee posted: Anjou pear, agave, and wasabi. I like greens with orange-y wood. Blue, not so much.

I love the idea of the darker colors mentioned (the eggplant and a teal blue) with that beautiful bright bedding. However, I start to rethink that with a medium wood trim in a room and that you describe as "darker", What is the color of the floor? Are you open to painting the trim?

Based on your fabrics, I like the idea of a blue-grey color. I have SW Copen blue in my bathroom. It's beautiful.
Or maybe a khaki color like SW universal khaki. I have one shade up in my MB, relaxed khaki.

I vote for that kind of olive/pea green that is in the bedding...I think it would look nice against both the wood trim and headboard.

My first thought was aubergine, too, but I think with that trim color, I'd go with a soft gray green. Especially in a guest room, I like soft, calming, retreat-like colors.

Thanks for all the feedback! Yes - I changed the bedding in this guest room. The other was just too formal for me and did nothing to lighten up the room. I really love the bedding I have now. I went with cream euro shams and bedskirt and am leaning towards the plum color or the blue. I'll have to see what it looks like.

I got the bedding at Crate and Barrel (Lucia).

Plum would be beautiful, but it will make your trim look quite orange. If that suits you, fine - but I'd opt for a rich warming green, like the rather citrusy olive in the print. It has enough yellow in it to be cheerful, but also has the restful quality of green, and that's a good thing in a guest room. I think. The print, by the way, is wonderful!
