Cream says yellow to me also. When I was picking my white for cabs, anything that looked creamy had yellow in the formula. And BM White Dove? Sickly, gray yellowish-green in my light. Horrid. Nothing white or creamy about it. Regarding the white at the end of the strip having the same undertones as the darkest on the strip, that's false as Linelle pointed out. I had to choose colors for every room in the house towards the end of the reno when my decision making muscles were exhausted, especially the ones associated with paint after selecting my cab color. I finally hired a well-respected color consultant as it was cheaper and faster than me buying another three dozen little paint cans, paint large pieces of poster paper, and then agonize for weeks over which was right. She explained to me the way paint companies compile the strips. They are not the same shade of a color with varying gradations. IIRC, they are simply colors that work well together. You can't take the darkest color and add some white to get the next color up on the strip. They are different. As Linelle mentioned, my cabs are BM Simply White. Over the year or more I gathered paint strips, I found SW on several different strips. There is NO green undertone at all and being on a strip with green doesn't make it so. The formula is a pure white base with just a couple (or maybe it was three) drops of black tint. That's it. Mine are sprayed with BM Satin Impervo Waterborne paint, which gives them a subtle, soft glow. No glaze. I love them. Mtnrdredux meant to say hers were sprayed with a cat lacquer or pre-cat lacquer. That will wear better than regular latex paint like was used on mine. Donaleen--Windham Cream is simply smashing in your kitchen! That what I picture when I think "creamy". For Sherwin Williams, it's Creamy that comes to mind. OP--if Windham Cream is too yellow, try BM Mascarpone, Cotton Balls, or Cloud White. For me, these had a bit of yellow which made them warmer than stark white, but weren't as yellow as Windham Cream. Definitely buy some paint samples and paint them on large poster board or paper. Then hang them up in different parts of the room and look at them at different times of day and night when the quality and quantity of natural light is different. She got it in Norway in the '50s, and it's a great piece of vintage kitchen ware that sat on her counter for years and always makes me think of her. It has glass compartments (some are broken now) that I assume were used for sugar, flour, spices, etc. We fill it with M&Ms, almonds, popcorn kernals, tea bags and Emergen-C. She's old now, and she doesn't like having her picture taken. taggie - comments like yours remind me that we did the right thing keeping the old cabinets. Two KDs I talked to, but didn't hire, immediately wanted to rip them out and I couldn't understand why, they were classic, worked fine (I realized later that both KDs work for cabinet makers; I don't know, maybe they all do). And keeping them saved me from making all those thorny layout decisions everyone struggles with here. I really had it easy, but thank you for your compliments. dilly ny - I wish I could take credit for the range hood, but it was the only one that would fit our specs. My ceilings are low and, if you notice, the ceiling above the cooktop is lowered even further (there is an upstairs bath above, but no one seems to know why the ceiling descends seven inches above the cooktop) - it narrowed our options in range hoods to this one - sorry, I should have ID'd it - Electrolux 36". dianalo - you are a better man than I. I don't think they're anything special, but I'm sure if I were replacing the the cabs, I would have had to pay quite a bit extra to have a set of drawers like these installed. Helped us decide to keep the cabs we had. We keep container lids in the first drawer, the matching containers in the second, napkins in the third and table cloths in the bottom. Great storage. Keeps everything nice and tidy.

I have floors the same color as your dining room. Vellum, a very soft yellow (but not lemon-y)looks beautiful with the floors and I think it would make your dining room seem infused with sunlight. I have Deer Path in my dining room b/c it is a better contrast against my painted furniture. Deer Path is a warm neutral, bronze undertones. Other BM favorites (that also work well with your floors): Blue - Santorini Blue, Brittany Blue, and Gray Wisp (Gray Wisp is same as Restoration Hardware Silver Sage). I also really like Newburyport Blue or Van deussen blue if you are willing to go with a dark color (navy). Green - Soft Fern and Spa (I just painted my guest bathroom Spa (*LOVE IT*). I have maple cabinets, white & grey floors, and white counter tops - the Spa paint is exactly what I wanted. Very neutral green, not too blue or too yellow, very soft but not pastel. Toned with some grey, really easy to live with. Off white - Woodmont cream, Mascarpone, Linen white, and Elephant Tusk. If you like red, the best red I've seen is Farrow & Ball Picture Gallery Red. I have a small accent wall in this color and love it. It is a very earthy red, strong color but doesn't dominate like some of the bolder reds do. Hope that helps!

i-chic: I want a tree like that! The pic of your son asleep under the tree with all those stuffies brought tears to my eyes. So, I can finally post my tree. As the chaos of our life continues I wasn't able to do much, but I really like it. It's the first time I've been able to do a "theme" tree - all red and silver. Sadly, the topper (a silver star you can just see) is too heavy for our little rosemary tree. From Christmas2008 Should I switch the angel and the frog to balance things? BTW, the tree is sitting on the hearth of our hideous fireplace (that will be completely redone some time in the hopefully near future. There's no mantle so our stockings are hanging from sconce holders on either side (you can see a bit of one on the right).
