GE Cafe range installation: flush to back wall?
Comments (1)You really need to take a look at the Specifications and Install Instructions that came packed with your particular model. These will give you all dimensions and indicate preferred location for gas line, outlets, etc. Always use the ACTUAL specs and instructions that came with your unit. But, you can find preliminary info for your unit online at the GE site....See MoreShould range be flush against wall?
Comments (12)And...to add to what vjrnts mentioned, if your duel fuel is a bigger appliance (ie viking, wolf, lacanche etc) pro style, it's SUPPOSED to be away from the wall, normally at least 3" for fire safety NOT TRUE. First, you can't make a blanket statement like this as it varies by manufacturer Second, even those where they recommend it be away from the wall 3 inches (for instance, Bluestar does this only if you use the island Trim - if you use the regular trim, their range is designed to be installed DIRECTLY against the back wall) you can install directly against the back wall as long as you extend a non-combustible material down 6 inches below the range top. Actually WOLF is the same - their duel fuel is made to install directly againts the wall unless you are using island style trim...See MoreGE Duel Fuel Range Not Flush Against Wall - Help!
Comments (10)We had this exact same problem with our Cafe gas double oven range. When I googled the issue, I found a GE forum where several people discussed having this issue, so I don't think it's a fluke. Our contractor discovered that there is some metal on the back of the range that sticks out about an inch. He was able to gain about half an inch by creating a groove or dent in the drywall to accommodate the protruding part, and we concealed the remaining half-inch gap by running the backsplash a couple of inches below the range. I think he may have disabled the anti-tip device too, but I can't remember. It's still not fully flush, but the gap is much less noticeable now and I have made peace with it. I've put a picture of our range below so that you can see how it looks. Good luck!...See MoreWhat did you do to get your range tight against wall?
Comments (17)I don't understand why you say you have a hose connection at the top. Is the range connection different from the instructions? Or did you not look at the instructions for the placement of the gas line and it is coming out of the wall at the top and you are using a hose to connect it to the stove at the bottom? If the latter it seems like a miss on the install part and can be fixed by moving the gas line. If the first then it appears to be an issue with the instructions not matching the stove. Either way moving the gas line fixes the problem....See Moreanna_2006
