Comparison of Frameless Cabinet Options in Alaska
Comments (5)Fori - It's true, with these short ceilings, we would likely benefit from custom uppers - and with our small house, we might benefit from custom everything. The trick will be our mythical short budget (mythical because so far, it seems I want high-end everything). lol Which reminds me, we ARE looking at Barker's, too. They are frameless. I just ordered a sample cabinet and 2 sample doors. Too bad there's shipping fees to Alaska. The Lower 48 gets free shipping. Suzanne - thanks for posting a pic of Innermost. You kitchen is lovely. It's a tad crazy-making that they won't give the specs out, I really don't get that. Thanks, though, for the offer to check specific items. I just wanted to browse through the whole thing and see what their line actually offers and how flexible it can be. I've done a bit more googling and searching around Gardenweb - found Brookhaven and Deco Supreme to add to my list. I imagine those are high end options, at least for us? I can at least make some phone calls and see if estimates are possible without a fee.....See MoreInnermost (aka DesignCraft) Premium Veneers
Comments (1)I also was nervous about veneer and devoted to slab doors and drawers. Slab doors are very often, not always, veneer. Slab doors that are not veneer should have battens on the inside of the door to prevent warping. Even though I started my project insistent upon solid wood doors, I am very happy with the veneer doors I have that are now going on 2 years old. They still look brand new and I have an extremely hardworking kitchen, I was comfortable with my decision, based on the thickness of the veneer, and complete trust in my cabinet maker. I think you will be happy with Innermost, they are the same company as Medallion and have a good reputation....See MoreFrameless/Full Access Cabinets

Blum Metabox drawers. mrsuggestion, until you go see Blum drawers in action, and price them out, you will not know whether Ikea is anything special or not. Blum Metabox drawers, bought at Ikea. On the web you can find out how much a "raw" drawer costs. 1/. Ikea's Blum Metabox. 2/. Blum Metabox, from a dealer, not from Ikea. After you've done that "homework" you will be happy to order drawer fronts from anywhere. Who cares where; you don't need to know right now. Right now you don't even know that Ikea sells Blum's Metabox drawers. (If you did know this, you wouldn't be asking the questions you are asking). It may be that you don't know yet what Metabox is. It is possible to buy everything by web and phone, once you know that there IS a good deal using these suggestions. Ikea-Blum Metabox drawers only come in certain sizes. For any sizing that the Ikea kits don't offer, you buy Blum Metabox parts from a dealer and you have the drawer built. Suddenly it's a semi-custom kitchen. No big deal. The specific drawer front you will put on each drawer is a future decision. First choose the Blum Metabox hardware or another kind of hardware. Then, attach drawer front panels. The two steps are independent of each other. If you don't like saving money AND getting Blum Metabox drawers, post again to make that clear to me and I will not write again about Ikea. Blum has other kinds of drawer hardware too. And there are many competitors to Blum. Hth...See MoreFrameless kitchen cabinets
Comments (12)We have frameless cabinets from Ultracraft and love them. Definetely do frameless especially if you have all lower cabinets as drawers like we do. The biggest selling point for Ultracraft is that they do any size modification for free-so I was able to use every single bit of our tiny kitchen. We went from a 14X8 galley with three doorways to a 11X8 galley but I don't miss the extra space one bit. Infact, I have left over space in my upper cabinets. It is pricey compared to Ikea and like but we would have not gotten all the custom sizing if we had gone with Ikea. Shipping was prompt and all the pieces came packaged beautifully. GC messed up one drawer front on install and the replacement did take time to come in. But, I am not completely sure the company was the source of the delay. We also did consider Innermost and it was around the same price for our layout. Though, if you order during one of the HD specials, you could save a bunch more. However, our GC was flat out against dealing with HD and didn't want to take responsibility for the cabinets. So we chose Ultracraft(after lots of deliberation) and are very happy. I must have read every frameless cabinet thread there is on this forum. Try a google search-you will get a bunch of different companies that you can look up. I also looked at Holiday, DeWils, Barker. Shiloh has a frameless line though I am not sure how it prices out. Brookhaven is likely to be more $$ but it is beautiful. Good Luck-it is nerve wracking but so worth it in the end!...See MoreRelated Professionals
