Wall decor around tv centered on wall

We have a wall in our LR 16ft wide (9 ft ceilings). Our TV sits on an electric fireplace/media stand that is 60inches wide and 40 inches tall. TV is about 30 inches high. So not much room to put anything on the wall over the tv. But, there is about 5 1/2 feet on each side of the tv for wall decor. I'm having a hard time deciding what to put on the wall on either side of the TV. I was thinking floating shelves...but do I need to be symmetrical on both sides? Can I do shelves on one side and something else (pics or metal art) on the other? Or would that look bad?

If I ever rearrange furniture, the couch may end up centered on that wall, or just off center one way. So I don't really want to do the shelves on both sides of the tv, because if I ever put the couch there, I'll have to take shelves down and redo the whole wall...and the shelves will require anchors, which leave holes in the wall bigger than nail holes. So I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has ideas, or pics, or wants to weigh in on the being symmetrical issue.

I'm so bad at decorating...clueless and not confident about it. We've been in our brand new home nearly a year and the only room with wall decor done so far is the office!

I'm having the same issue. Right now I put 3 plants on the right in a corner, one on a high plant stand and the other two on a small table. A candle holder is yet to be put up on the other side.

The TV is on the wall though, all electronics are in a closet behind. I do have a sofa table under it with pillows on it's shelf. Am consdering a bench for extra seating out of the way, but can be moved.

Had wanted bookcases too, but the room has enough furniture and big fireplace. Filling up the bookcases felt like too much for my area.

How about the shutters, but with wall lamps attached? A tiny whole could be drilled into the shutter where the cord would go, completely invisible. FYI, hard wired wall lamps can be reworked and become plug ins, easy peasy. With the wood ceiling adding a rustic element, shutters would follow that sort of style w/o 'bringing in the barn.' While I like the pictures as well as the shelves, why not think outside the box? You could still have pictures on either side of the shutters, maybe 3 smaller vertical or 2 larger horizontal, depending on how much wall space you want to take up.

I like your room. It's pretty and restful and tasteful. As far as your TV wall -- I see nothing wrong with just the TV on the wall. And if that bookcase is there because of the chair I think it's fine. The wall over the sofa looks "odd" to me -- I think I would remove the shelf and lower the art. There's just something "off" about the shelf and art to me. But it looks like a nice room for TV Watching.

Just checked out crown and ceiling molding. Think crown is about as big as it should be. Really like ceiling molding if they were higher. Thought what about a shade darker in paint? I did dove wing but pale oak May show some definition?

Sometimes people think more is good. Here less is better. Yes to getting the tv wall mounted and console. The one that @jck910 posted is a great example. but I might go light wood since white can look a bit modern for your space. I would remove all the clutter from the fireplace mantel as well. IF you love the plants, dont add more decor it just starts to look too full. maybe hang a few plants from hooks in the celing in front of the FP window. I know this sounds crazy but I think a less busy rug would really help the room. Lastly bring the sofas closer together, loose the arm chair, and maybe a sofa table behind one sofa for some of your plants and things.
