Awesome! The color is beautiful. I love looking at pools in other areas of the country. Did your dogs just jump in the pool for a swim?

Beautiful pool and setting! Is your fence made of concrete? and are those other flat-roofed buildings houses? I like looking at pools from others parts of the country as well.

Just curious, what is the plan for the large rock on the left in the second picture? It has an odd shape.

I am in Yuma, AZ and many of the houses here are made of stucco with flat roofs simulating pueblo style houses of old.

Here's a photo of the front of my house showing the design.

The outside wall is made of cement blocks with a stucco covering to match the house. That's the norm here, In other neighborhoods, the blocks may be stuccoed, gray or sand colored.

Remy- the Black and White Cocker has been going into the pool on her own or while chasing a ball or squeakie, Clicquot- the brown and white PBGV has needed a few nudges but once in swims the whole pool or swims up onto someone's back for a free ride. Earlier, Remy tried to help Clicquot out of the pool by pulling on his ear like a rescue pup. Sadly, we were in the water and couldn't get a photo of that.

Ell- I didn't notice the "odd shape" until I saw that photo from above, I just thought it was curved. No- it's not a shrine, icon or worship temple- That large rock will serve as a table for folks to sit on and eat or relax after we put up the BBQ area. It's longer than a couch and weighed 9700 pounds. The other rocks are for sitting around the firepit. We call the big one, the "mesa stone!"

The pool guys were here today to start chemicals and are working on some splotches where the plaster cream didn't get washed off. I'll keep you updated and update photos once the water clears more.

I like seeing houses from other parts of the country, and with the cactus around, that's so cool. My husband has been wanting to take a trip to Arizona to see Monument Valley, the Painted Desert, Meteor Crater and of course the Grand Canyon. I prefer vacationing in the Caribbean, but of course I'll go wherever whenever!

I thought the big rock looks like a curved arrow pointing at the pool! like to say to planes "We are here!"

That rock could be seen as an arrow to the pool or, errr something else, but let's go with the arrow! What a clever idea to use it as a table.

I am in Phoenix, we have passed Yuma many times on the way to CA or DH going to the dunes out there. :)

Faux- that goes to show you where are dirty minds are, Mountaineergirl "only saw an arrow!!" But, since, I'm a single girl- maybe the rock will encourage "other big arrows" to visit the house and pool and maybe I can find someone. We can call it "match arrow.com"

There is space on the street for 2 more houses to build on either side of me- all 1/2 acre lots, but the area behind that up to the mountains is Goldwater Army range land and belongs to the government. Every now and then you can hear a bomb or something go off in the distance and see helicopters in formation flying over. The Army and Marines practice behind those mountains before going to Iraq.

Everything is beautiful!! Real is wow!!!

All is relative, especially in the fluctuating market now. But Yuma and Arizona appear to be holding pretty steady without too much of a drop in prices. Homes across the street from me (new construction) ~2200 sq feet and 1/3- 1/2 acre are going for $500K. There is one 2600 sq ft (200 less than mine) without pool/landscaping on 1/2 acre lot for $600K. Mine appraised for $660 before the pool/landscape loan. I'm hoping the pool/landscape, plus gating the community (later this year) will bring it to 720s, which is what the builder was estimating I could get for resale on the property.

That is great that no one can build behind you. I would hate to loose that awesome view. Il's live in New River, AZ (north of Phoenix) on 6.5 acres surrounded by state trust land. They got it for a steal! Well before Anthem.

mountaineergirl- Make sure that when you take that trip to AZ that it isn't in the summer. It would be so much more enjoyable in the spring or fall. Tombstone is fun but WAY far away from the other things you mentioned. It is funny how we take things for granted when we live here. DH and I haven't taken our kids to the Grand Canyon or any of the other things you mentioned, but we go see sites in other states.

BTW, isn't Monument Valley in Utah?

As for the OPs block wall, it is just the norm here. When we go to other states like Idaho, Utah, or Arkansas, it is weird to see the houses without any fence at all. I don't think I could handle having my whole house exposed like that.

My suitemate at the U of A was from Yuma. I remember thinking, "what's in Yuma that someone would want to live there?" It was just a place to gas up on the way to San Deigo, haha! Of course, that was 20 years ago.

It's obviously changed now. Your pool and house are just beautiful. I cannot wait to see the entire yard when it's complete!

houseful- You went to UofA? That is so sad when you could have chosen ASU. ; ) Go Devils!

LOL! I actually went to both! Went to UofA my freshman year and roomed with one of my HS friends. Neither one of us liked it so we both tranferred to ASU. I was able to get my job back which I really missed anyway. So ultimately, I got my degrees from ASU :)

Phew! That is so good that you got your degree from ASU. I actually didn't go there, only to MCC, but I have many family members that did.

Hey guys- don't knock U of A. I start my PhD there next month!!!! Was it that bad Houseful?? I guess it's a good thing it's a distance program!!

osorry1- For me it's just a rivalry thing, for fun. I didn't go to either school but when you have siblings that have gone to ASU you just build a loyalty. My BIL used to have a t-shirt that said, "My 2 favorite teams are ASU and whoever plays UofA." We have some good friends who are from Tucson and we have some good fun with the rivalry thing. The first time I went to Tucson, other than driving through it as a kid and going to the UofA band festival in H.S., was last year, and I've lived here almost 30 yrs. It seemed o.k., but a lot different from the valley.

Niki, It really is way different there! My sister & I drove down there to go to a concert in May & it was like we were in another state. *lol* Funny cuz other people I talked to say the same thing.

Stunning! The refection of the cactus makes it look like the cactus is close to the pool however I can see from the photos the cactus is actually a ways back from the pool. Love the way it refects in the black water, so nice :)

Thanks. I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and will be starting a PhD in Nursing so that I can teach others to be Psych NPs.

The job comes in handy as I needed counseling through the entire process and at times certainly could have used some mind altering medications!!! (or could have given some to some of these dufus contractors!!!)

osorry - your pool came out beautiful! It fits the desert surroundings nicely. I'm glad to see you finally got it finished and can enjoy it now.
