Beautiful garden! I especially like the fern and the bloodleaf. Looks like the veggies are doing well, also. I have tomatoes, eggplant, onions, lettuce, bell peppers and squash planted in my flower beds and my front yard, also. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice! I hadn't heard of the Bloodleaf, but would be interested in planting it here. What's another name for the yesterday-today-tomorrow? I don't know that one either, but it's so pretty!

I highly recommend Sluggo for your slugs. Not harmful to pets or other animals.

That is beautiful, I love the plant selection and I have to say that is the most impressive staghorn fern I have seen.
Have you considered making a glass totem to put out there? I have been making some and really enjoy it, they have turned out beautiful. Plus my neighbor and I like to go out junking for glass to make them. They have some pretty ones over on the garden junkers forum. Or you can google glass garden totems and choose the image option to see a lot of them.

I have a yesterday today and tomorrow from a cutting a neighbor gave me, pretty small but it did bloom.

Mamatoad--you have the same vegetables planted as I have. I just pulled out the lettuce. The vegetable garden is in the side yard, but we live on a corner , so it is viewable from the street. The back is too shady. I wish you a bountiful crop.

Alisande, not sure if blood leaf or yesterday-etc would survive your winters but they might be ok as house plants through the winter. I started the bloodleaf as a cutting. My garden book says yesterday-etc is brunfelsia pauciflora floribunda. It is called yester-today-tom because the flowers open purple, then fade to lavender, fade to white before dropping off. It loses a lot of leaves in the winter but not the blood leaf. As for the slugs, Sluggo--that's exactly what I use.

I had never heard of Y-T-T. It is beautiful with its different color flowers. I looked it up on Google Image and saw some photos, as well as a very nice one of Kenny Loggins (who has an album with the same name)!

Just lovely. I also like the bloodleaf and the Y-T-T. I will have to see if they can survive here in Zone 7. I love to garden.

I love bloodleaf too. Your garden is lovely. Just one tip. Tomatoes need at least a 5 gallon or larger container. Those look to be about 3 gallons, so they will outgrow them at some point. I use 5-gallon buckets I get free by asking on Craigslist, and then drill holes in the bottom.

Eileen--I know what you are saying. We just got back from a road trip to AZ, and the landscaping is very different. But at least you aren't constantly clipping, watering, feeding, mowing, pruning, raking, weeding, etc. Time to do other things you like. I spent an hour on my knees last night weeding, not done yet either.

Jasdip--I was thinking ratatouille!! Some time ago you shared a fresh spagetti sauce recipe which has become a tried and true for me. I think of you every time I make it.

Raven--I spent a while looking at glass totems as you suggested. That looks like a lot of fun to do, and the shopping fun as well. I'm just thinking of a cute teapot I saw in a thrift shop, almost bought it too. Maybe it's still there. How cute that would be in a garden! Thanks for the idea. Is your YTT inside or outside? I wonder if they would work as a houseplant.

Steppy--I hear you about the pot size. They are actually 14" pots (7 gal.--took one big bag potting soil). This would be the minimum size for tomatoes IMHO, but last year I did have a great cherry crop from a potted tomato and the ones in the ground gave me nothing, so I'm hopeful I'll get some from the pots this year.

Patti--I don't know your zone, but it might grow in FL. You could ask in a good nursery (not HD!).

Lindalou--yep, I have 4 Christmas cactus which were just repotted in fresh soil. They are as beautiful as orchids when blooming, but it's so long between blooms, once a year.

We have a lot of other yard to deal with as well--40 rose bushes, in particular. Trees, too much lawn, lots of hedges to be clipped too often. I only showed you the good stuff. Thank you everyone for your kind words. I'm so flattered you like my gardening efforts.

My yesterday today tomorrow is planted outside, they are very easy to start new ones from cuttings, my neighbor has many of them some are taller than the house so beautiful.
I would think that they could grow in Florida, they survive the hot Texas summer.

Try the totems it is addictive, I can tell you what to use as glue if you need it.
