World market has some great outdoor tables. They're having a sale until the 24th.

Those are cute but you can't put your feet up on them ....
Maybe a softer ottoman, with little garden stools next to the sofa for tables.

mtn, can't put feet on them? You mean because they aren't soft? But we put our feet on the coffee table all the time... or am I misunderstanding you?

I think these would be really cute if I painted the tops in a fun color.

There are also some teak nesting tables that would be really practical, but I don't really want teak. Someone was just asking about painting a teak sideboard... will try to find that post to see what the answers were. Could I paint them?

I think that because of the size and heft and yes, hardness, they wouldn't be very good to put feet on.
I'd prefer wicker or an outdoor poof or something cushioned.

Oh but I love those WM stools pretty much no matter what!

Oh, these are kind of cute nesting tables. I'd get the charcoal gray and maybe spray paint later if they seemed too dark.

Great rug! I love the WM stools.. they will definitely take the space even more eclectic but they really seem to work for your style. You've done such a great job of incorporating other interesting and rustic pieces.. like the sewing machine base and the table talk shelves.

I am less a fan of the blue tables.. and I think they could be tricky with the blue rug. The purple caught my eye on the Home Decorator's table .. but I am concerned about the quality and durability of it. The wood would need to be really thin, light to be bent as it is.

Love how the room is shaping up! Can't wait to see it finished!

Well, a few things have changed since (1) I did some local browsing in stores yesterday and (2) my rug also arrived yesterday. I did not find a single thing that I really liked during my shopping trip. Also, I found the same fun wood/metal stools from World Market that I thought I'd love, but I realized they're really too small to be practical for use as a "table." I'm realizing that with just one end table in the corner between the two loveseats, I really need a coffee table setup that's going to work for, say, placing a bowl of chips (um, I mean fruit) as well as possibly putting up our feet.

Also, while I do like the rug, the colors aren't exactly what I thought they'd be -- more muted, and what I thought might have been a gray color is really brown. Actually, it has a lot more brown than I expected -- even the border is brown, whereas in the picture on the HD web site, it's blue.

Anyway, most of the brightly colored table options really won't work with the rug.

Now I am looking at these LL Bean tables... I'd get two of them so they can be moved around as needed (more flexible than the coffee table) and I'd get them in the Sand color, I think, because that color seems to work with the "sand" color in the rug as well as the actual color of the porch -- it will all be painted the same as the trim color of my house, which is Linen White. They are pricier than some, but they seem built to last. And the "Mission" style reflects back to some of the furniture inside my house...and works well with the style of the loveseats too, I think.

DH loved the LL Bean tables and since he's had no opinion on anything else, I ordered them.

Now if I could only find an outdoor table lamp (for a different end table) I like that isn't $250+ or 34" tall (why are they all so huge?)...

Does it have to be rated for outdoors? Our old house has a screened porch and we didn't like any of the outdoor fans. We bought a wicker bladed one not rated for outdoors. Last I knew, still going after 7 years.

We also used a Sundance catalogue floorlamp. The screened porch was pretty large, eg about 14x40, so it did have some protection ... but still.

Was I just one flick of a switch away from electrocution or something?

Hm, well, I thought it would have to be... but maybe not? Do you mean a ceiling fan? I guess maybe that would be different because the location of our table lamp will be closer to great outdoors than your ceiling fan was. It will be right next to the screen. On the other hand, if it's plugged into an outdoor outlet, does that give it whatever protection it needs? The electrician will be here before long to install the other (recessed) lighting, so I'll ask him! If I could choose a "normal" lamp, I guess I'd still have to look for something fairly rugged, that wouldn't blow over with every breeze, and I'm sure I'd probably have to get a new lampshade every year, but I'm okay with that.
