should we have a real estate agent look at our house?

we have been in our house for about 4 years now. purchased for $8,000 from a bank that forclosed. when we bought there was no kitchen, bathroom, etc. over 4 years we have remodeled 70% of the house, gutting each room to the studs and starting from scratch. now we plan on selling in another 4 years to build a new house.

does anyone think it would be worth it for us to bring in a real estate agent NOW to tell us what we should/shouldnt do before selling (i.e. add a garage, dont install pink carpet, etc)? we want to maxamize value before selling but dont really know the best to do. we know what WE like, but lately have been walking on the side of caution.

here's our value trend so far:

bought in 2002 for $8,000 - appaised @ $29,000

2003 - siding, paint trim, landscaping, removed walls of enclosed front porch - appraised @ $35,000

late 2005 - all new vinyl windows and new doors, gutted master bedroom and nursery, but sat gutted for months. had home equity appraisal done - $55,000 as a 2 bedroom because of master bed

2006 - renovated dining room, laundry, master bed, nursery, bathroom (all got new elecrical, insulation, sheetrock, solid pine doors and new flooring and bath got new tub, throne and sink as well), new 20x14 deck - apraised @ $75,000

we want to bring our appraisal up to around 100k+. we are in northern new york on the canadian border. any recomendations?
