LOL Those people on the commercial did...The one where the couple are interviewing an architect and they sit down in his office and she says, "Design a house around THIS" and she pulls a faucet out of her pocketbook!

The downside is that you might find another faucet you love even more later on, and have to Ebay the Grohe.

Evaperconti...OMG! I completely forgot about that ad! Well, we already have our house design, so it's too late to design the house around the faucet. All I can do now is design the kitchen around it...LOL. I was more worried about being able to position the faucet on the counter so that the spray hits the drain and doesn't splash all over the place, and wondered if the placement is pretty standard. In other words, do most people pick the sink first, and then the faucet, or vice versa, or does it matter at all?

i have to say i really didn't give quite enough consideration to the faucet in relation to the sink in relation to the counters so now, knowing what i do, i would say that placement is not necessarily standard(i kinda thought it was and couldn't get that Allora faucet i wanted, but am still happy)

First thing I thought of when I read this post was that commercial.... looks like I wasn't the only one!

I have to show this to my DH as I was online looking for faucets last night and we haven't even moved into the new house. I bought the sink and bath faucet for the guest bath in our new house months ago when I found a great deal on them.
He thinks I'm nuts. It's so nice to come here and learn you aren't the only *nuts* one out there!! :-)

I purchased a couple hundred yards of fabric for my drapes...before the offer on the house was accepted :oP I justified that with the cost of the trip to purchase later, blah blah blah...I wish I'd have thought of that whole "US Dollar shrinking" line...

Maybe I could use that to explain the jewelry I accidently purchased today....hummm

my granite fabricator told me they could only drill 3 holes in the granite..I have no clue why. I doubt anyone would need more than 3. I only need 2. Maybe he meant that is all they would drill without an additional charge?

Get the faucet, you will be fine, UNLESS it is a wall faucet, then maybe not without modifications to your plans if there is a window above the sink.

I once picked upholstered furniture and carpet around a single lamp for a formal living room.

Thanks everyone for your responses and giving me a smile! I feel like I have the "nod" to go ahead and buy my faucet. It's a single hole model, so it should not be an issue with the number of holes in the counter, and it's not a wall-mount, but those are just the kind of considerations that I was looking for and that this forum is great in offering.

However, I really do think that the shrinking US$ will eventually lead to an increase in the price of goods from European manufacturers. We've already encountered that in the price of a Jotul woodstove...up about $100 from when we first looked at it last year. I don't pretend to understand macroeconomics, but common sense tells me that when the Euro goes from $1.25 to $1.55 and a barrel of oil is over $100, prices are gonna go up!

I couldn't decide between two faucets so I bought them both. We put the Vinnata in our house and I am saving the Brizo Floriano for our cabin at the lake which is taking on a storybook house quality. We have no plans yet but we have a footprint we have to fit in to. The old cabin is 20' from the lake and you can't build that close anymore. If you have an existing cabin you can tear it down and build in the same footprint plus 1/2 the original sq. footage. So, we have a footprint and no plans yet - just a lot of ideas --- and a faucet.
The dollar shrinking and the high price of diesel (I saw 4.20 here in WI yesterday) is having a huge impact in construction costs. A friend's son is a roofer and he said all his costs are taking a leap in April.
We have to order four decks worth of wood and we wanted Ipe from South America to match existing decking. I am so sorry we didn't order it last spring as the price has really jumped - because of the shrinking dollar and shipping according to the suppliers.
