On the tile -- I love those 3-tile layouts and use them whenever possible. We finished a bath about 6 months ago (much smaller than yours) using a two-size layout (12x12 & 6x6) with some off-angle (not diagonal) walls -- so I went through your same concerns. But we went ahead with the two-size layout and I love the way it looks. In a large open space, you can pick up and appreciate the tile pattern. But in a smaller room with interrupting walls and different angles, the tiles will look 'random' rather than 'patterned' -- and if you don't object to that (I don't), it can be a great look. (Your tiler will curse you, though, 'cause it's hard to keep track of where you are in the pattern!) I'd lay it straight rather than diagonal, to give the place a greater sense of 'organization' and so your tiler can have stable reference points to work from. On the glass, are you asking if the door should be between two fixed glass panels, or one door and one panel? I'd defintiely go with the one fixed panel and door -- or just a larger door. As to what side of the door should have the hinges, either one is fine -- either glass to glass or glass to wall. My personal preference it to be able to open the door just a crack to get a towel. I'm not quite understanding your mirror post -- but I would try not to let the makeup mirror interfere with 'proper' sconce placement. The sconces are decorative *and* functional, and the makeup mirror is more flexible.
