It's gorgeous! Is this difficult to do? I agree with the brown border, it needs a little "grounding" It looks like it's ready to fly off somewhere!

I think it's just lovely. What commitment it must have taken to get to this point. I just wish the pictures were larger so I could really see it better, but it is awesome!

Oh Jennifer - you must be reading my mind!!! I have been thinking about you & your Bella Bella quilt all week! I reserved the book from the library & just picked it up and wow- oh- wow - your quilt is definitely a masterpiece. Some in the book are not my tastes, although beautiful, because I appreciate the work. I don't care for some of the designs or fabrics----but you so carefully selected the right fabrics-- and the fussy cut corners are a perfect complement to the Mariner's Compass (credit to your DH for his technical design contribution).
Yours is absolutely stunning!

Regarding your question, I agree it needs more brown on the edges to pull the eye outward from the center. From your picture (and I also would like a larger or close up of the fabric)- the eye seems to rest on that show stopping center, and I think you need something subtle to allow the eye to sweep across or travel with the swirls and take in the whole design. Something simple like adding a smaller blue (like you've used) border to the brown you have then the larger brown border (Brown-blue-Brown)
Right now the 1st brown is part of the circle. I think adding the additional will help frame and finish the circle and finish the whole picture.

Now the pressure & you can say no and I won't be offended ~~ if I decide to tackle the Bella Bella Quilt, will you help me if I run into trouble? I haven't read the entire book yet (drooled at all the pictures) and I have been reading it at night when I am already tired, but I wanted to try another PP project and this is a biggie. (I'm getting sick of stars :) I don't want to pressure you~~ really ~~ you are a very busy Mom and I recognize that.

MRG~ Of course I'll try to help you if you need it. I had trouble understanding some of the instructions, and really just had to work through them one step at a time with my stuff in front of me...That helped.

Don't know what the next 'challenge' will be....Will get through this, have a few unfinished little things, then we'll see.

BEAUTIFUL! Yes it does need a wider brown border. How about an occasional blue diamond in the border, perhaps where the circle touches the edges. You continue to inspire me.
