Recently finished this bluework baby quilt top. Now to get it layered, quilted and bound.

Next up: a pinkwork quilt with old fashioned girls!

laura...you're seeing stars? I looked at it agian, I don't see stars. WAIT!! OH!! I see them!!! around the 4 patches! Oh, what a good eye you have. I never noticed them until you mentioned it...and even then I had to look 4 times!! lol. I really am tired! Thanks for pointing them out. I like the idea of a double row of stitches. Maybe I could try out the double needles on my machine...have been wanting to try that. Maybe I should treat the entire diamond as a block, and the stars as a block...and think about quilting them in that way.

Thanks everyone, I have really enjoyed most of it lol! I find had work relaxing. Jennifer, lol, that was the one thing I knew was right! Marsha, It's going to be a quilt. I finished all but the very top piece and put it aside 'cause the letters and musical notes intimidated me. The rest of it was much more fun than the top. Sharon, I have made needlework that was reversible. I really don't know why 'cause it was a belt lol! I crocheted a Tuscan afghan and tried to embroider a floral design on it and it looked so bad on the back I took it apart. I'll take a pic and post the back. I don't carry, I tie off each small design. The correct way to do embroidery is start and finished by running the ends of the yarn through about 4 of the previous stitches. Yeah right, like I am going to do all of that work and just watch it unravel the first time it's washed lol! I begin mine with small knots and finish with small knots. I have seen needlework that is as gorgeous on the back as the front, something tells me mine will never be lol! I was having a hard enough time getting the front to look presentable without worrying about the back. Rosa

Plain cottons, Vicky, with bleached muslin for the bluework blocks and the white border.

Teresa, it is so cute. Was it made for someone special or just to have on hand? Your embroidery is really nice. I think that is the same puppy I put on a quilt last year. I really like all your blue and blue and white prints.

that is just spectacular. I don't have babies any more but grandchildren who might produce some one day. I might just do one for my "hope chest".

I recently found 8 pink fans amongst some orphan blocks that I plan to use as a skirt and put a Sunbonnet Sue hat on them....I still don't know if my next great-grandbaby is a boy or girl...but, I'm making this anyway! Hmmmm, I could use your idea if it's a boy.....would you mind?

I really like the blue work. What a nice selection of blue fabric and they go togeather so well. You always put things togeather so nicely. Some baby is going to be very lucky. Jayne

Jen, there are lots of free patterns for redwork on the internet. I found at least one of the animals on the Turkey Feathers blog. Then you can do a google search on "redwork patterns" or "redwork designs" and find lots.

Beautiful Teresa!!! I admire your hand embroidery. I love to hand quilt but I never am satisfied with the way my embroidery turns out. This summer as the weather gets to hot to hand quilt I am going to work on my hand embroidery.
