Comments (4)Wonderful, UK! My DH's mother would go with her dad to collect seaweed on the coast of Ireland, and he used it on his crops in the fields. That was over 100 years ago now. As an island country, seaweed should be readily and fairly cheaply available to you in the UK, right? Love natural products. Please follow up with a post on how it works for you....See MoreShould I push DH into the excavation pit now?
Comments (31)To tell the truth, I have shown him my choices, so he has a chance to veto...But for our bedroom carpet in particular, he's never home by the time there's enough daylight to really look at the samples in the room, so forget it...I showed the kids my 2 top choices instead, and they weighed in for me. I really want this to be a team project and have him care about the choices, but I have the better eye and will care more about some of the details in the end anyway. What mine is headed for the trench for these days is thinking, even though he isn't here to help with certain things, that they should be done exactly how he would do them. Phoohey on that. The latest: he wants us to stop and test every outlet we've wired before putting on the little face plate, to avoid having to take it off later if one has a problem. We are taking bulk boxes of these things and putting them on, one after another, as far as they'll go. We're not stopping to plug a radio into each one when we're 'on a roll.' It'll take 5 seconds if we ever have to take a face plate back off, and we'll do it if/when we need to. His way is not wrong, but neither is ours. It was his great idea to save the ceiling painting for last, over my opposite thought, and now it's me having to mask off the already painted walls, so we can do the HUGE job of painting the ceilings. That's all I'll say on that one, since I'm finding no humor in it at this point...It's the big load on my shoulders right now. Keeping him alive is the fact that he started cutting the material for my kitchen cabinets yesterday. :-D...See MoreI am going to smack DH upside the head!
Comments (23)Well I totally agree with Organic, when the child is in your care and you organise a babysitter then that is your business and not the other parents'. The thought of informing BM has never even crossed our mind! And she doesn't ring us about her babysitters either, which is her right. We expect her to look after the kids properly when they are with her, and it is her judgement whether this or that person is ok to have as a babysitter. And if that person is not to our liking than it's stiff sh*t for us really. We actually had a situation a couple of years ago when BM hung out with a bunch of feral people. She got them to look after the skids quite a lot at one stage, and the skids used to dread going to their house because it was dirty and they'd have to sleep on the floor with a thin blanket that stunk like pee. And no I'm not exaggerating.. So FDH offered BM that we can always look after the skids when need be, and we are only 10 mins up the road so it's the same time as to drive to the ferals' place. But noooo, BM was in control of 'her' time and she'd be damned if she'd give us extra time for free, THAT was NEVER going to happen! Very frustrating but you can't do a thing about it. When the skids are with her it's her business. And in Loves case they are NOT dealing with 2 normal parents, BM is a mess, and to inform her is actually endangering SS and the babysitter. That poor girl doesn't need to be harassed by crazy BM. Most of us are here because we are not dealing with a normal parent, otherwise why hang around here if things are fine and both parents are normal? Love don't give BM the babysitters number, no way! BM can ring you guys if there's an emergency and maybe SS can ring her before you guys go, so he's had his phonecall to his mum for the day. And I don't think it's normal she talks to him that much, our BM does the same, exactly the same. She'll neglect the kids when they are with her (used to leave them home alone, go on the piss, promise them heaven but always have a headache when it's crunchtime, keep them out of school, not take them to sports etc etc). But oh boy when they are with us! Constant phonecalls to check if they are ok (it being such a risk to be with us) and making sure we'd take them to sports otherwise she'll come and pick them up herself (MOTY), blabla etc etc. It is controlling and disturbing and I'm frustrated on your behalf that you guys are harassed by this woman so much that it interferes with your normal everyday life. Hang in there, big hug...See MoreStupid DH, now my bedroom is orange!
Comments (40)While I like red and I also like orange, I admit to finding that room (on my monitor) extremely bright. I guess because it is a bedroom. I really love the idea of the glaze over the color. I just did that to my laundry room that was brighter than a school bus yellow (ooops!). The glaze really toned it down, and now I like it. It's not a perfect color for my cabinets that will be coming, so the color may eventually change, but at least for now it is tolerable (and my original golden/mustard just was NOT!). LOL! I can definitely see that color left in it's current state, and used on an accent wall. With dark furnishings and maybe some greenery, that could be a very gorgeous "designer" space. If you did the "accent" on the wall where your headboard will rest, you'd never see the color at night when in your bed and supposed to be resting. And of course if you needed to kick up the passion, you and dh could just crank your necks around and glance at that bright wall. :o) LOL! Congratulations on your new cabinetry arriving. Happy for you that it sounds like you are on the home stretch!! ;o)...See MoreRelated Professionals
