Take a look at my 'new' baby!

Right before Christmas, my mom called & asked me if I wanted her old machine. Well, duh! Of course I do! So we went and picked her up today. Loving it!

so here's the baby .....

and a closeup .....

and smile pretty for the camera, baby......

and lookie! a drawer full of cams, attachments, bobbins and gizmos! hooray!

She's now got a new home, and as soon as I gve her a bath and oil her joints, she should be ready to play! Whaddaya think?

She's beautiful! Congrats on this lovely addition to your family.

At Thanksgiving my SIL gave me her mother's old treadle machine. I intend to figure out how to use it, but it's a 'someday' project.

I've got a treadle in it's own cabinet, too. Have only used it a couple times. But the cabinet folds up into a box so we usually use it as an end table in the living room. I'm hoping that one doesn't get too jealous of the new addition! lol

actually, the new baby is large enough to be used as a desk in the liv. rm., which will be good for studying & bill paying. I think my big rotary mat will just fit the top so it will be awesome for cutting. I just love having it.

but, what am I going to do at Christmas next year? I have NO IDEA where the tree will go now! lol

Are these the variegated ones? If they are, I would like to have a lot. If they are the green, I would like to have a few. I do not have a lot of houseplants, but I could root you some ficus, or send you some arrowhead looking plants (I do not know what they are called) or holiday cactus cuttings.

Thanks everyone, Thanks for the proper name too, it wasn't on the pot and no tag of any kind... of course. So far it hasn't complained~~ lol. Still haven't taken off the bottom yet, I am going to need help from my DH and things are so screwed up here, it has kinda been on the back burner, sorta speak. Everything has lately, but hoping to get back to sorta normal soon... hope. Anyway, I was wondering when I should repot it? (new soil) I wanted to wait till Spring, but if you all think now would be better, I can do that too. I am really hoping for flowers too. Should be pretty. But first things first, get it looking well. :) The leaves are strong, plump, no drying at all, but some of the starts seem to want to fall off easily. So maybe repotting it now would be better. Does the pot look like the right size for it? (hope so~~ lol) But thanks for all the nice comments~ :) Marjie~~ trying not to be a stranger here...

Thinking it over and looking at evidence. I'm ruling out everything but Crows, Hawks, and Red Squirrels (for these 3 nests). The one nest that had been disturbed had chicken wire loosely surrounding it so a Raccoon (or other large climbing critter)would have left a bend in it. I am hearing the baby Crows begging however I have not heard any ruckuses from frantic parents. Maybe very early morning attacks? I cant do anything about the Crows but I can do something about the Squirrels (I don't want to) but if I find they are the culprits..........

odessa~ if you finish it with her machine, that would make it really special ~lol~ have you looked at her quilt in the last few years? I hate working on old - old unfinished projects. It never makes me feel good-more like a dreaded task, but using a new sewing machine would make me feel better about working on it.

rivergirl - The only thing left to finish on her quilt is the hand quilting, which I started eons ago in ruby-colored quilting thread. I have enough thread to finish the piece, but since it's partially quilted, I need to get it done. Then I certainly could attach the binding with her machine, no problem.

I really want to get it done, too! It's been too long sitting at my house. Mom says she doesn't care if it's done or not, she wants to be buried with it. Fine, but MY theory is that she can't die until it's done! lol

(maybe that's why I haven't finished it yet? if it's not done, she can't die, right?)

odessa ~yep! Very Good theory ~ Your Mom sounds like a sweetheart! Give her a big hug. (I miss my Mom everyday) Now that you said that - I don't know if I would ever finish her quilt :) :) silly...........

She is beautiful. Does she do zig zag too? I know the lever that moves vertically is for length... is the other one for zig zag?

Necchi made sone great machines. I bought one in 1963, and it is still running perfectly, but it is in my daughters home. I love using it whenever I'm there. It is truely amazing that has never needed servicing, except what I have done myself, (maintenance only). I even did a lot of canvas work on it.(Sunbrella).
I use a 1935 Featherweight that I love.

I love your new addition. Wow, a Necchi made in Italy! She looks really beautiful and what a nice selection of attachments and the cabinet is very attractive.

I hope you take some time to use her, if for no other reason other than to keep her in shape. I have a featherweight that I sew on quite frequently and a 104 yr old treadle that I am learning to machine quilt on. I find it so relaxing to sew on these very simple machines that produce excellent stitching.
