Pullout Pantry for 15 Inch wide cabinet
Comments (5)I don't suppose you could get custom on this one cabinet? Before we chose our local cabinet maker, we looked at a showroom that sold Decora, Mauser and one in between (can't remember the name right now... may be the semi custom line by the same people as Decora but there has a different name). I was thinking they had a 15" pullout, but now that I think about it, it may have been a door with roll-out trays. Have you talked directly to Brookhaven to see what they can do? If you went with Ikea, could you get your door style from B'haven? Assuming you could do that, that sounds like a great solution....See MorePull-outs in pantry cabinet - how wide are your pull-outs?
Comments (7)Good question! There are SO many things to think about, that really by the end sometimes I think many of us end up aware of so many details...way more than the average person, even your average contractor...etc. I just measured my pullouts. As cyycdm stated, my drawers are only 22" long, but DH installed them (we did most of the kitchen DIY), and he placed them further back (than you see in her photo). They are full extension, so you can still access every square inch, but being a bit further back allows for extra stuffing overflow of bags, etc on shelves! LOL My frameless doors don't completely clear the sides of the cabinet frame, so the carpenter had to supply 1" bumpers for the side where the door is attached, so the drawer can clear the door, I'm sure you need the same thing, only in framed, you will need those bumpers on both sides, so a loss of 2" there. My slides only take up 1/4", so there is a total of 1 1/2" wasted space, my pullouts are 15 1/2" wide for an 18" pantry. Believe it or not these had to be built 3 times before they fit...no wonder my kitchen company went bankrupt (the day my new granite was to be installed, BTW) I would question why so much space needs to be lost, that seems wasteful to me....See MoreAm I crazy to substitute regular shelves for roll outs in cabinet
Comments (23)Drawers in everything that I could. Pullouts everywhere I couldn't (aside from uppers that were 14" deep), which was in my pantry. Yes, a pullout is an extra step as opposed to a drawer. But, when comparing shelves vs. pullouts, pullouts are infinitely more functional to get the things in the back. If it wouldn't have been such a budget killer, instead of my pantry being 30" wide with wide pullouts, I would have instead did pullouts that were half the width - but that would have doubled the number of glides and pullout drawers and would have been horrible for the budget. You might lose a bit due to the pullout itself, but you "gain" back real usable space at the back portion of the rollout that would be rather unusable in a deep cabinet. I saw someone who had a 30" pantry and just had shelves in there - WAY less usable space overall than what I have....See MoreWhat are your widest pantry roll outs?
Comments (8)The cabinet is 24"x24" (the roll-outs are smaller, of course) and I could use wider roll-outs. However, only the lower ones are roll-outs, the uppers are just shelves. KD said it would be hard to reach over the sides into the upper roll-outs but I am thinking of changing the shelves to roll-outs too. Why would it be structurally unsound? I love my 36" base drawers as well as the 30" drawer in the oven cabinet, all 24" deep....See Moreniffy
