I have one, what you have drawn looks about right in length and placement from the front lip, but it looks too wide. The base isn't wider than the slide like that. If you take a look at the installation manual on the SR Smith site it should help you, it shows the base from a lot of different angles. See link below.

You might have noticed that they call for an overhang (from lip of slide exit to pool decking edge) of 4" minimum. If you locate it like that about half the water coming down the slide ends up all over your decking. Annoyingly, they did not mold a lip into the front edge of the slide so most of the water wicks under and runs back along the bottom of the slide. I fixed this by installing a vinyl drip edge (garage door trim) along the bottom where the lip should be. Works like a charm, all the water dumps back into the pool. I took the advice of several off this board and had them install mine as far out as I could without getting too close to the coping. The water does run under the slide a little, but falls nicely into the pool. My link is below if you want to see more.

Thanks for the information. I have read your post and others about overhang recommendations and part of what I'm doing with the lay-out is to maximize the overhang without letting the base sit on the coping. How much does the base curve from its closest point to the slide edge. I know it's not flat. I'll look more at the link you suggested.

I don't understand the question, the base is elliptical in plan (doesn't curve) but I'm not sure if that's what you mean.

The dimension at the handrails adjacent to the steps is 2'-11" out to out.

I wouldn't try to cut your decking too close. What I did was I used the CADD drawing off of their site and plugged it into my pool drawing, then added a minimum of 12" of decking around it. You'll be sliding it back and forth on the decking when you drill the anchor bolts, so you need some extra room to move it. Plus you may have to make some field adjustments based on where the water stub ends up (I know I did!)

I just looked at the owner's manual and it appears that in the manual drawings there are some hand holes in the side rails (to assist in climbing the steps). If the hand holes were built into the slide it would need to be wider, thus the 3'-2 1/8" dimension. But there are no hand holes on this slide, so that appears to account for the discrepancy between the manual and the CADD file dimensions. Either the slide originally had the holes and they later changed it or that was an earlier design that never made it into production. Either way it appears they neglected to update the drawings in the manual.

Want to purchase one for a boat dock, but price is way too high. Anyone have ideas/suggestions/recommendation on retiler/wholesaler under $2000.00? I called SR Smith & left a message, obviously they do not place a high priority on customer service, girl called me back in a day with all the info and schematics I needed to build a platform underneath my dock. The mounting is really better viewed from their service schematic, just give yourself some time. chasshey@yahoo.com
