Comments (1)Dear Colorado tinkerer Thank you very much for your story. I feel bad for you. I would say that the soil you have will likely be still be good to use. Try taking some and putting it in a pot and putting some grass seed and fertilizer in it and watering. If it comes up with no symptoms, then you have a better idea that you can use the soil where you want. My guess is that the answer will be yes. Comments (4)Skunk? I've used Penofin for a few years now.....it doesnt smell like skunk to me. Smells like oil to me. Is there a skunk (dead or alive) under your deck?? Comments (2)I have caps made out of "mahogany" - the same stuff used as decking - that look pretty close after being stained with Penofin Cedar and coated with Sikkens Door and Window clear. Also did the same finish on cedar caps, they look pretty good, but not as close to ipe as the mahogany. Comments (1)Now that I see the wood I think that something with a little bit of pigment may enhance the deck. Penofin Redwood All Hearts formula would be a good choice to deepen the color. You may also consider the Penofin ProTech Wood Prep before staining to help prep the wood....See Morejohn_hyatt
