Anyone frustrated with the flat bottom of a farmhouse sink?
Comments (123)Found this thread because the Elkay Crosstown 31 inch sink we just had installed is pooling in the middle of the sink. Counters are so close to level that I'm not sure it would be reasonable for Elkay to complain. So some Elkay are fine and others are not. I'm going to try putting some olive oil and some Hope's Perfect Sink in to try to prevent the water's adhesion to the surface. But since I haven't found anyone suggesting/confirming ways to mitigate the problem I'm not hopeful....See MoreAnyone have a Solid Granite Farmhouse Sink ~Looking For Reviews?
Comments (4)Hi mariofo, We just bought a Stone Forest 33" granite sink for a kitchen project from Sinks Gallery (SinksGallery.com) that arrived yesterday. We liked the "rough" apron front and thought it would work well for our project. It looks far better in person than it did from the photos! We did a lot of research before purchasing and decided that the Silgranite sinks looked too "plastic-like" or fake for our tastes. We were concerned about the upkeep, but ultimately realized that a sink takes no more abuse than a granite countertop and that many products existed to seal or clean. ...frankly, from what I have learned, the care & maintenance is pretty simple - soap and water on a daily basis and very occassionally a seal or cleaning using standard products used for granite countertops. These sinks are heavy - but that was part of the appeal to us. The sink will probably far outlast the house! ...and the natural look of stone is very cool - WAY better than silgranite IMHO. Good luck! PS - I have included a link to the sink that we bought. There are a lot less expensive ones sold by this company (also check out StoneSinksOnline.com) but we really liked the tones in the apron front of this particular sink. Here is a link that might be useful: 33...See MoreAnyone in Chicagoland looking for a FRANKE Farmhouse Sink?

Comments (9)As far as I can tell, the nig bummer is that its meant to be a partial overmount with a flatish lip that goes over the counter. Unless you caulk well while installing, its moldville under that lip. I like that it's easy to clean and it always looks white. We got a third party grid that helps to keep pot marks away. The LACK of depth is a relief, I like the sink around 8 inches deep. If she uses 1/2 sheet pans frequently, she needs a different sink as this one will not fit those size things. I have a two burner pancake griddle - the cheap non-stick, for home use kind - and it won't fit that. It can sit on the top, and the front and back handles will rest on the sides - so I can still clean the pan. It will fit a regular roasting pan. The other two things that I don't like about the sink is the faucet is very far back (23" or so) in comparison to 19-21" for most undermounts. It acts funny if its filled with ice - just like a glass of iced tea, it will form condensate on the underside of the sink. I imagine that varies with where you live. I will get you a trash pullout picture soon....See Morewolverine2
