Which finish/sheen for dresser - top and the rest

Remember that dresser that looked like a beaver chewed the top? To our surprise, we actually didn't need wood filler and were able to sand it pretty.

The top is now stained a dark walnut but I'm debating what sheen of poly to use.

The rest of the dresser will still be painted BM Heritage red. The paint brand is BM and is semi gloss. I'm not sure if I want to glaze but am leaning toward it. I don't plan to be too heavy handed though. And if I glaze, I plan to use poly (not wax) because I already have it on hand and I've never used wax.

What are your thoughts on the finish sheens? If I DON'T glaze, I'm assuming the top sheen should match the bottom and both be semi gloss (since the paint is sg). If I DO glaze, should the whole thing be semi gloss and call it a day or semi on top and satin on the bottom?

I'm hoping to have the dresser, with the exception of hardware, finished sometime this coming week.
