Why? Haven't picked up a frog!

Just had a mani/pedi and noticed I have a WART on my index figer!

Why?

Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Had them as a kid, but I'm 68 going on 69!

Put some duct tape on it. Remove it every few days and use an emery board on it, then put more duct tape on it, until it's gone.

Thanks, I'll give it a try!

Just saw that if you make a paste with Vit C tablets, it works, using duct tape as well.

Teryaki, They become quite abundant in the summer here...sometimes swarms of them...although some species are very shy, the ones you see arent...they love to perch on stakes, tall plants, etc...and if you walk up slowly with your finger, sort of like a bird..they perch right on....mopre them closely and you cann look so up close...and see their little eyes sooking back...it's truly a wonder....and a great way to get the kids to see, love and explore nature... Milkweed...I've planted my first this year, bought some plants on an online auction (I guess I'm not supposed to mention by name)...and after 3 weeks, several are starting to flower...there are many kinds, some annual, and some perennial....they can get tall, so best idea is probably to buy 10-12 and plant in cluster in back of perennial garden...you will be rewarded...

Congrats, Midnight. Growing a clivia to blooming size from seed is a great accomplishment. I hope you'll start a separate thread with pics once the blooms are open. Great plants! Socks, Disneyland and I have a lot in common, heh heh, and no, not because I'm "goofy"! I like a lot of the plants they use, and how they create such cheerful/jarring combinations. I just planted a bare root 'Disneyland' rose, which, while not jarring, is certainly perky like the many they have planted there. I've been gardening since I was five years old and have reached the point where I just plant what I enjoy and what makes me smile, so "tastemakers" be damned, lol. The brighter, taller, and stinkier, the more I like my orange marigolds. I actually struggle to find non-dumpy dwarf types. Usually I get them from Select Seeds or Seeds of Change...what about you? I think it's both, Sally, but I know a lot more guys now who shoot things just to put the heads on the wall than I ever did. I worked for the Prosecutor for over three decades and it just got worse and worse, the crimes got more and more serious and people became more violent. My family has always hunted and fished to eat, now people spend thousands of dollars to shoot an animal that's penned up inside a fence so they can have it stuffed and add it to a "collection". Those wild boar/antelope/whatever ranches are absurd, I might as well walk out into the barnyard and shoot Bossy Cow. And the meat should at least be donated to a food bank of shelter, sheesh. I have no understanding or respect for "trophy" hunters. Ugh. If you're going to shoot it, eat it! Annie

Sorry Acadiafun I misunderstood - I entirely missed your other post stating you were referring to your own yard specifically. I should make clear that I am speaking specifically of an urban environment with many dogs per day travelling by and deposits left on other people's property for them to clean up and/or in common areas like parks and terraces meant for everyone to use. Houses/yards very close together - literally only 8-10 ft alley- which means if someone has a noticeable bad odor emanating from their yard it really is more of a nuisance than if the houses were spread out. Certainly I know many fine dogs/owners who are conciencious, But of those who aren't - my neighbors small pine trees near the sidewalk 2 or 3 feet into her yard were killed by several years of dog pee - got progressively browner on the dog pee side until finally they removed. My raised bed in front last summer wasnt doing too well and I wasnt sure why until I saw what was going on (and got yelled at by someone for daring to ask that she move her dog). Im not sure WHAT I will do with that bed - once one starts they all do. At least 5 times a year if not more I have to spend considerable effort removing the stink from my shoes - and last summer tossed a pair of fav flip flops away because I just could not get the stench out. That is MY frame of reference. Cities/urban environments are all about users making compromises - one persons rights end where anothers begin. BTW If I need a life so do some others here who have posted myriad times on this same topic!

Warts are caused from a virus.I have one on my arm at this moment! I will try the vitamin C and duct tape!LOL

My grandmother used to take a potatoe, cut it in half and rub the wart with one half of it until it burned like fire. She would then bury both the potatoe halves in the ground somewhere (the person with the wart wasn't supposed to see or know where she buried it). In a few weeks the wart was supposed to disappear. I think my grandmother was a little wierd, you think? It didn't work on my sister. Witchcraft I say. She also believed that if you had a chest cold you boiled up some onions and put them in a poltice or cloth or something and put them on your chest while you lay in bed and the onions would draw out the poison or whatever. Witchcraft I say. Oh and if you got stung by a bee, she'd go get some dirt and make mud out of it by spitting on the mud and then putting the mud on the bee sting site and this would draw out the stinger as it dried. Witchcraft I say. Witchcraft.

Not witchcraft, just old wives tales. Maybe. I believe the mud/bee sting works. And I just saw on TV a couple days ago about the onion and a cold. You peel the onion (that opens the sinus) saute them until clear, and wrap them in a towel, and put them on your back/chest. It acts like a heat pack.

When you go in to have a Pedi and Mani bring your own tools! I had a wart on my Toe that took me forever to get rid of.

The Duct Tape worked. I had been using Wart Off, but the Duct Tape did just as good.
