Instant Hot Water Taps

I was about to order a Hot-1 Insinkerator brand hot water tap because it was small (basically, I only need to have hot water for tea 3 or 4 times a day) until I read the customer reviews on Amazon where there's a boatload of similar complaints. Apparently, it's a piece of crap.

I'm not sure I'd trust any ISE product now. Does anyone have another to reccomend? I don't need a large tank, and I prefer one that a guest couldn't mistake for something less benign than near-boiling water.

Mine is a Quick & Hot - worked flawlessly now for nearly 3 years. You can get any finish/style faucet you like, there are so many choices. Mine looks like a miniature version of my regular faucet, but there are a variety with handles that are red or are clearly labeled "hot."

DS and DDIL have an ISE hot and cold -- new house about a year ago. They love it and have had no problems. On the basis of their satisfaction, we're putting the same thing in our new house. It may be bigger than you want, though, and it has cold water, too -- not chilled.

I am not clear on your set up. What are you not telling us? I do not understand what Ã¢ÂÂtank 134.6 hP 111Ã¢ÂÂ means. Where is the blue pipe connected to & what temperature is the blue pipe water? It seems to me that for this to operate properly, especially with a mixing valve, that you may need a buffer tank between the solar collector and the active tank. Can you possibly supply us with a detailed schematic including temperatures & flow chart? SR

"Miele W1, Miele Little Giants or Miele Professional will all provide proper heating of the water to the temp selected. No need to set house common water heater to an unsafe temperature." Miele has temp options Cold tap, 85, 105, 120, 140, and sanitary 170. Very customizable, and heater wastes no time going to work. Most machines you have no idea what the temps are at all period. If a huge drum which most do not even utilize is not important to you, Miele is the bomb. It will hold as much as a full size top loader.

"can I just cap off the hot water line and install an instant hot water dispenser" Probably not ... if the pipes are that bad, they would probably crumble as you try to put a cap on them, and are ready to rupture in the wall anyway. "I don't want to replace the pipes because, to me, it's easier to run an electrical line then to crack open a plaster wall. " Ask a plumber ... they can usually repipe without having to make huge holes.

My friend gave me a "Cup-at-a-Time" (Black & Decker) some time ago and I enjoy it. It has a permanent filter, that I let fill with grounds some, except in summer when it molds. Don't let it fill too far ... or the blow-off at the end of the water will splash grounds into the water tank and drain. It's not the type that would enable a connection to a water line, hot or not, I'm sure. Daughter gave me a large "Arizona" mug (some influenced by neighbouring Texas, possibly?) that'll go in the slot only at an angle. No idea of the price, but think it'll be fairly reasonable. ole joyfuelled ... also fuelled (questionably?) by coffee (with c & s)

We have an ISE hot water tap that came with our house. It was 2 years old when we got here and has never worked. :-/

I put in Cosco's version of the hot water tap and I LOVE it! Does tea very well and I use it 3-4 times a day. It's only been in about a year...hope that helps. It does have a little red dot on the handle.

Yes, the ISE Hot-1's have always gotten bad reviews. However, their other models have been quite reliable from what I read here when I was making my decision 2 years ago. I have a 2-yr old ISE TranScape H-View that has been wonderful. It's important to choose a model that has a SS tank if you want it to last.

Don't judge the better models based on the lowest priced budget model reviews. Note that the better ISE models also have a longer warranty and that there is probably a reason for that. I have only had my H-view for a year but I really like it and it gets about 10 degrees hotter than the Costco model, the reason I didn't get that one. If that doesn't matter to you either would be fine but I would stay away from the hot1.

Mine is a Mountain Plumbing unit and we've had no problems for about 2-1/2 years now.
