BM Smoke in kitchen - post your blue kitchen!

12 years agoHere's a shot of our kitchen, completed in October 2010.
Our counters are Blue In The Night Granite.
A very dark grey, silver and black speckeld stone with occassional flecks of blue mica.
The paint is a 50/50 mix of BM Metallic Silver and Pigeon Grey.
We found the Metallic Silver to be too light and the Pigeon Grey too blue.
So we asked our BM dealer to combine the two.
The paint looks more grey in the daylight and more blue at night
I'm attaching a link to the rest of the kitchen so you can better see the paint.

Comments (27)lyban: The Mount Sainte Anne also looks very nice; but seems I did not pull a card for it when I was at BM--even though I pulled almost all the blues grays and greenish colors. I find so many times posters will recommend a color and it's not out in the racks and I need to request it; wonder why that is? Next time I go in I will ask for it, though, as it also looks a good possibility. DS is resereving judgment until I put the sample boards up as he felt the colors looked different between my computer monitor and the paint chips. I'm taking DS out this evening to finalize the mattress--there is a Friends and Family additional 10% off sale at Sears and the associate I was working with suggested I'd get a better price then....See MoreFinally Posting My Blue Kitchen
Comments (38)The microwave shelf is 24"W x 16"H x 18"D. These are stock cabinets and that was the only size available. We had to chop off the L front corner as the diagonal corner cabinet's door hit it. That meant getting a new smaller MW than our old one which we expected to keep. The new one is a Panasonic, about $120. We consider MWs to be disposable appliances, so want to be able to replace easily if/when it dies. The kitchen scale has lived with us for over 20 yrs. We purchased it when living in England, with both metric and imperial weight sets. Someone asked earlier about the cupboards' insides. They are faux woodgrain melamine. Comments (12)westleyandbuttercup, thank you so much for the pics! your home is beautiful, and the color is perfect. Indygo-girl, those are just pics from the internet, not of my house sadly. I love the one with the stone fireplace... sigh. We decided to do a custom color in between both Thunder and Smoke Embers, so a little more gray than Thunder, a little warmer/more brown undertone than Smoke Embers by itself. 12 years agoThis is the kitchen I put in my old house (my single days!) I used two blues, and never bothered with a backsplash because I couldn't come up with one I loved. Of course I'm having the same problem with the new kitchen...
My new kitchen I'm using a more gray color, but its definitely got blue in it. I can't get a decent picture of it because there is still a fuchsia wall... you can see it reflected in the fridge... but here you go. Please ignore the tile sample :)

12 years agoThank you! Its showing light in the picture I posted, so here is the slab. Its a slightly more tame Juparana Delicatus. I absolutely adore it. The black chunks, along with creams and grays and taupes - even a bit of burgundy up close :)

12 years agoI don't have photos of my kitchen yet (coming soon, I'm hoping!), but here are my 2 inspiration photos. I, too, was apprehensive about putting blue in my kitchen because I kept thinking it would read "bathroom" color. After experimenting with blueish green, I decided to stay true to my inspiration photos and went with a blue backsplash with gray tones in it. I think it will look great and if anything, somewhat unique because I still don't see many blue kitchens yet. My kitchen wall color (not a lot of bare wall, though) is BM Revere Pewter, plays off the neutral in the rest of the house and goes well with my tiles without being too matchy-matchy.
