timber tech earthwood evolutions

trying to get some feedback on this product.

highly considering it and was wondering if anyone has used it and what they think about it.

we are also considering azek, arbor collection in morado.

ANY info would be great.

we are not considering IPE b/c of staining and sealing issues.. we are looking for a maintenence free choice. we don't want to fool ourselves thinking we will do it religiously.

No decking is truly maintenance free, I am not certain of all the particulars but when I sold composite decking Timber Tech was the brand i preferred and had the most success with. Azek decking I am not familiar with but there trim products are very good so I would be inclined to look favorably on there decking as well.

i do know there is some maitenence with TT but i feel alot less than IPE.

we got the quote for material, DH is doing work, and all i can say is "OUCH"!!!! we are not doing railings, deck is low, just running a step around most of deck (two sides).
every expensive!! and azek is even more!!!!

frankly not really comfortable enviromental wise to use IPE, 1st its coming out of the rainforest and second the shipping to get it here. this my personal opinion.

its just amazing the prices they charge. the conceal screws are 3xs the price as top loc. just outrageous..
so we are re-thinking it but might not have too many more choices. why does everything have to be so hard????

any other advice on other material would be appreciated!!

To the OP, I've never used TREX Transcend as I stopped working w/ TREX 5 years ago. Regardless of whether or not the company has fixed their problems regarding shoddy boards, they HAVE gotten very good at weaseling out from honoring warranty claims. TimberTech is a strong company that stands behind their products. Are they perfect? No. But they'll make it right if need be. If you buy TREX, you can only HOPE that the boards don't start disintegrating. If they do, you'll find yourself in phone hell trying to find a live person to fulfill your claim. On another topic, I've actually found that the TT XLM boards are MORE scratch resistant than the TT Evolutions. Not sure which one's better about stain resistance though... Thanks, John. That's exactly what I was interested in hearing about. Here's my followup question, though: has the TimberTech Earthwood always been made so that there's a grey composite inside with a color coating, and they've just recently added an extra layer of plastic coating? Or did TimberTech Earthwood used to be of uniform composition all the way through? Let me know if you need more explanation for this question...I'm not sure if this question makes sense to anyone but me.

Beautiful! I would however instruct my little 1 to ride his trike around on the lower lever only. That raised edge on upper level would still give serious bumps & bruises to little 1 on a trike going off of it. You did a wonderful job of taking pics!! Enjoy your new patios & Hope you have many happy times there with friends & family. Looks perfect for entertaining!

my wife and i couldn't be happier with our TT Earthwood Tropical Walnut deck which will be a year old in a few months. i've just begun to put the final set of stairs on it and hope to have some lighting on it by the end of the summer. The finish faded ~10% i'd say, which we fully expected per reports. Our dogs play constantly on the deck and it's held up tremendously. It has it's fair share of scratches which fade and blend in time and actually has added to the decks appearance/appeal, in my opinion. We used the conceaLOC hidden fasteners and would recommend them if they're in the budget. Easy to use and, again, adds to the clean appearance of the finish. Our deck is solid as a rock - i built it without cutting any corners - as far as i was concerned at least. i think a deck's stability/ability to not squeak/creak/etc. lies mostly in the framing, not what you lay on it's top. just my opinion. do the hidden work underneath right - the rest just falls into place. i'm no expert, but this i know. you won't be disappointed in the Earthwood product in my humble opinion.

just let you know, we did go with TT earthwood evolutions in pacific walnut and it look fab!!!!

much better that i had hoped, we are very pleased. i will post back and let you know how its holding up after a year or so.

any questions, just let me know.
