I can,t help much with colors on the siding but no to the shutters the one on the left would,t fit. Are you thinking about getting new siding or just painting the body of the house and trim?

Here's a cheerful cream. Awnings would be cute but then you'd lose a lot of light. Maybe one would fit over the door. Or if you can get a full view screen door, put some color on the door. Red would be pretty.

Maybe you could find the right soft yellow. Red door.

Not a brown roof but here's an off white with a red door to perk it up.

I'm glad to hear you are planning white trim around the windows. I think they will be more like Snookums 2nd picture. Is painting the porch rails an option too?

- madeyna : yes I was planning on replacing the siding completely. Right now it's aluminum and we want to switch to vinyl

I also agree no shutters. You can't fit one on the left side. If the right side of your house was bumped out a little bit you might be able to do them on that window.

I think your windows would look really nice with wide trim. Can you do that while you are residing?

We have SO many houses in my town with brown roofs and tan siding. It's very dreary I think. I love the cheery yellows with white trim. A slate gray would look nice too.

Very similar to geokid's suggestion, the roof reminds me of our roof and we get a lot of compliments on the taupe with almond trim....and certainly it's neutral enough to keep your DH happy.

I'd paint the siding a dark gray-brown color similar to the roof and paint all of the trim white. It would be adorable with a white arbor over the door, with a red rose growing over it.

Aluminum can be painted up nicely and you can save big. As long as it is in good condition.
We we bought our house and was thinking if siding, I realized I liked the way it looked and it just needed to be bright and clean.
There are so many tans, beiges, creams. Start looking around as you drive around. If you see something you like, approach the owner. As long as you are not right on their vicinity, most people like to share their ideas.
I would like to see a new porch for the entry with a small port cohere .
