15. To see Ferris Bueller's Day Off. His dad drove us.

I was 14.

16 and now my DD is 16 and she seems so young. lol

We didn't really have rules like that in our house. We all hung out as a group, and at some point I started going out with a boyfriend- I think I was 16. But there wasn't anything set. I never had a curfew either.

Been too long ago! Can't remember!

Parents said 15, but a "nice boy" asked me out when I was 14 and, since he was socially correct in my parents book, the let me go. He was nice, but kind of quiet. That sounds young, but you have to understand I lived in a town where everybody knew everybody--no kidding. And my mother worked at the courthouse so she saw everybody at some point in the year.

My Dad wanted to keep me in a thermos bottle. He told me I had to wait until I was out of high school. Then he wanted me to wait until I finished college. I lived at home until I was 28 and had a midnight curfew.

We didn't have rules about dating. My younger sister dated before me, I was quieter and more shy. She dated at age 15 or 16 and I was 18 before I dated.

When I was 14.

The Fire Department had weekly BingO games and I often saw a cute boy there who wore a uniform of some kind. He asked me if he could come over to my house some evening. I asked my Dad, and to my surprise he said it would be alright. (My Dad identified the uniform as the Civilian Conservation Corps, which made him "acceptable.") He came, we played Chinese Checkers for an hour or so, barely spoke.
I thought the evening was boring.

Never saw him again. Didn't really date until I was 16.

I was 14 but it wasn't a car date. He came to my house and walked me to the high school gym and we watched a basketball game. My first car date, I was 15.

15 yrs. old

I was 12. We went to the drive in and saw Dr. No. He tried to use tongue on the goodnight kiss. LOL Kind of ended the crush I'd had on him then and there.

15...sophmore in high school...boy am I glad I didn't hitch up with him...he's a major alcoholic...and the girl he left me for at the end of our sophmore year is still married to the clod!

15, and I had the same rule for my daughter.

My parents made me wait until I was 16. I have four younger brothers and a younger sister. They'd all be looking out the windows with all of the lights on when I came home. I guess that's why they don't/didn't introduce me to their dates. I still owe them.

I dated on the sly, I think I was 16 when I didn't hide it any longer. I don't think there was dating rules in our household. I think I had my first real date when I was 14, wow that sounds so young now! I allowed my children to date when they were 16

I never dated until I was 19. Daddy was too afraid to let my step sister and I out on a date alone so I had to wait until she turned 16 so we could double date. I missed alot of spring banquets, dances etc. in high school. Didn't hurt me though, taught me patience. (which I probably needed at the time)

I was 15 and this guy who was 17 asked me out-I didn't really like him so I never asked my dad if I could go out w/him. Well, the guy called my home to get my answer-told him I hadn't asked yet-he said "I'll wait-go ask." So I did-dad asked where we were going-I relayed the question & was told to the drive in to see 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof"..I was elated-figured dad would certainly say no. WELL-he said fine-just be home at midnight. Go figure! Well, around 10:00-he laid what was probably the sloppiest, wet kiss on me and I pretended I was getting a cold & said 'take me home'. Got in my door at 10:30pm! HEE HEE!

My parents would not let me date until I was 18, and when I did it was always a hassle being about to go out. So in the end 9 months after I met my now husband we got married. Looking back I should not have married so young or so quickly. I never dated anyone but him.

My first 'date' was an invitatiion to go on a church hayride when I was 14. I dated the same boy several times. His parents drove us to movies, a college basketball game, to play badminton, etc. -- usually they attended the event too! I had quite a crush on him. I think he only kissed me once, quickly, in the back seat of his parents' car.

Later his parents divorced and he was sent away to school. Years later he and his wife and three children moved into the suburb where DH and I lived. Our sons played Little League together. His eldest son coached our son at a baseball summer camp. He was CEO of a prominent company. Tragically, he committed suicide -- and I learned he had been an alcoholic for years.

I think I was 17.

I was almost 17, but didn't think it was a date at first. A close friend worked for the Rec Dept as a summer job. His cousins were a well-known singing group, and he knew they would be playing in town. Diana Ross was going to be on the show too. He got the tickets from work, and one day after summer school class he asked if anyone wanted them. There was a group jumping up and down screaming to get the tickets, and he picked me. I told him that I would give him the money the next day. That's when he told me that I was going as his date - WOW, was I shocked. My mom took me shopping for a new dress and shoes and all the other accessories. I was pretty shy, and heavier than everyone else. She was so sweet to try to make me feel like the other girls that were going. I'll never forget that concert - open-air amphitheatre, and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" has just come out.

That was my first boyfriend - we dated for a little over 6 mos. We remained friends for a while and would hang out every once in a while. After I have been dating my soon-to-be-hubby (now, ex) for only a few weeks, my friend had taken me to go car shopping. When we got back to my house, my "hubby" was there waiting to take me out. To this day (a couple of decades later),even after being divorced, "hubby" can't get over that - even though it was something very innocent. Unfortunately, my friend passed away about 12 years later from a massive heart attack. I found out at the HS 10 year reunion. When it was announced, everyone in the room turned around to see my expression. They knew we were always close - he was very well liked by everyone.

Oh well, enough of my story. Short answer - almost 17.

I was over 17 and I could go out only one night a week. If I went to a Friday night ballgame, then I couldn't go to a Saturday night movie.

One date a week, home before midnight, with all details as to who, what, why, where, when, and how thoroughly spelled out.

I could, on occassion, go to the boyfriend's home for Sunday dinner. He would pick me up at home after Church, and then had to bring me back before 3 p.m.

I don't recall going on a date when we lived in Ontario: Dad had a sale of our farm goods when I was 16 and went west for the summer, while I worked as hired hand with the family who rented our farm. Their daughter and I were rather sweet on one another for a while ... but I don't remember whether we ever went on a date: I didn't have a car available, so we'd have had to have travelled by bike.

We moved to Saskatchewan when I was 17. One-room elementary and one-room high school in village, no Grade 11 till I arrived in the spring, and in the fall a new family's daughter Pat and I were the only two in Grade 12, grad year.

We kids used to visit one another's homes from time to time.

My first date was with Pat, I think, and I don't remember whether it was a double date or not ... probably to a dance or to a movie in the city. We went together for the rest of that year. I used to visit her home with her family, from time to time.

I went away to Univ. the next fall, 180 miles away. I don't remember what Pat did - got a job in the nearby city, I think.

They had a brother much younger, who'd been named Eric Nelson ... and putting that together with their name of Du Russel ... the older kids in the family said that the initials were meaningful.

I remember once, some time later, commisserating with Pat's older sister, Nelda, when she was quite upset after the break-up with her boy friend.

Hummmm lets see...I was a freshman in highschool so I was about 15 I guess. And I should NOT have been dating...I was too imature...lol...still am...!!!

I was 14.

I dated a guy from my church for a year or so before I started dating my neighbor, who went on to become my husband when I was 20. That was 35 years ago.

16. When it rolled around and I had a date, they regretted setting it at 16 and wanted to change it to 17 but I threw an unholy fit and they relented - most of my friends had long since been dating. I was a good kid, they had no worries on that score.
