Here is a picture of our track. It's very clean looking and from a distance you don't even notice it. Can say about any problems yet because this is our first year. However, how do you anticipate the cover end? Aluminum cover or coping cover and how are you planning the vault area for the cover to roll into? We have matching coping for ours (not quite finished yet as stones are not set) But here is how it looks so far.

I am leaning against doing stone coping because quoted $3000-$3500 more. If I had $$ I would do it especially after seeing how yours looks very cohesive and finished off---just probably not in the budget. Instead I am probably going with an aluminum lid.

Question on your track, does yours sit sort of sandwiched between the tile and the coping or does it hang from underneath the coping? i.e. can you feel the underside of the track or just the side? I am not sure from the picture. It looks good.

As for my vault have not thought about that. I think the motor will be attached to the pool wall concrete. I have to reread my brochure.

I would only use the in-wall track when you must have an irregular, or thin coping. Otherwise the standard under track is far less expensive (materials and installation) and far easier to service and maintain. There are a few inwall track systems out there, that I hope I never have to service them.

The cover box system that Missy has is one of the most expensive and elaborate methods. It has huge stainless steel brackets that hold up the large (24" typ) stones with very little deflection.

Typically the back edge of the stones will but up against the deck material, and her installation is unique where the grass goes up to it. There are many different ways to finish this off, such as a strip of matching precast stones behind its covering the cover box with sod, or creating a decorative tile band.

The covers we use are the Aquamatic Hydramatic.

When retraced the leading edge is also out of sight, which looks very nice.

Question: Does the standard undertrack limit holding on to the edge of the pool---would I even notice it in normal use? I would not want to damage it or have my kids get their finger caught in it. Also does it cause more coping or deck failure because it doesn't have a lower support? Thanks for your advice.

Its only a 3" overhang, so deck failure isn't a big issue.

It's too small for kids fingers to get caught in.

As an adult I have no problem holding onto the coping, but I cannot speak for children.
