Show me your beadboard with tile
Comments (12)I think tile or beadboard will work for your wall, really depends on your preference. I don't think it will the horizontal of subway pattern will clash with vertical of beadboard. Here are a few photos from our bathroom, which has subway tile in the shower and also beadboard for the walls. In our case there is a mirror above the beadboard and paint above that. We used redwood strips (around 4-5 inch widths)that fit together. Contractor felt that this would work better for a bathroom - no chance of warping. This may be overly cautious but it has worked fine for us. However it was a bit involved - priming for a few coats and then regular paint (around the sides, too), plus white caulk between strips. Good luck on making your remodel....See MorePlease show me pictures of your outside corners with subway tile!
Comments (4)The thing that would scare me is that Subway Ceramics is traditionally more expensive than most other brands, and when both Dal and AO have trim pieces available for their subway tile lines, if that's the only reason you're going to Subway Ceramics, then you're wasting your money. If you're a fanatic about it being exactly period correct, with no cushioned edges, and instead, flat with nice sharp corners, then it IS the place for you. Keep in mind, though, you're going from about 2.00 a foot to about 11-15.00 a foot for the tile....See MoreShow me your marble subway backsplash!
Comments (10)Our modest subway backsplash behind range in our 2004 DIY kitchen update. We always go for the simple over ornate. Seems to work better in our old house. This is the backsplash above the sink/countertop side of the kitchen. Here's a link to more photos of our house and kitchen. There's close ups of the back splash if you scroll. Good luck! Comments (12)Beautiful tile pictured here from all! When I've done tile it seems the grout line ends up being slightly wider appearing than the spacer, perhaps since the edge of the tile is slightly curved, so I think with a tile as small as a subway tile, you may not want to go as big as 1/4". I was told by the tile store that the larger the tile, the larger you can go with the grout line if you want that look, but that generally, the smaller tile look best with smaller lines. Then of course, there's granite tile that uses razor blades for spacers even though they're usually 12" tile. So, I guess it's a lot the look you're going for. I've used DeLorean gray grout and putty and both work well--so much easier to keep clean looking than white grout. Your project sounds like it'll be beautiful! Good luck!...See Morekalapointer
