Didn't feel it at all. My nephew in Florida heard about it, and asked me if I felt it. Hmmm so, I looked, and here is what I found: OKLAHOMA CITY - People across the Oklahoma City metro began posting messages to Facebook and Twitter after feeling an earthquake Wednesday afternoon, the second quake in just eight hours. The shaking began just before 2 p.m. and lasted only a few seconds. While the U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.5, the Oklahoma Geological Survey ranked it higher, with a magnitude of 4.0 It was centered two miles southwest of Nicoma Park, and 11 miles east of Oklahoma City. According to the latitude and longitude coordinates from the Oklahoma Geological Survey, the epicenter was in a neighborhood between Post and Westminster to the west and east, and N.E. 10th Street and Reno to the north and south. News 9 received several messages on Facebook when the quake hit. "Felt it," wrote Theresa Vaughn. "Thought it might be wind buffeting the building, but it continued [too] long for that. Glad to know I wasn't hallucinating!" Maria Couch felt it at her home in Edmond. "I was on the couch and it started vibrating, then I look over and my water bottle on the coffee table was shaking," she wrote. There are a few reports of minor damage, but no injuries. A 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m. It was centered three miles southeast of Choctaw.

Carol, There's only been a couple of quakes felt in Love County that I've heard of since we moved here and they were the other end of the county from us. Usually, Love County's quakes are in the uppers 3s or lower 4s in magnitude and not noticed by many. Carter County seems to have them a lot more often and Garvin County seems to have them even more often than Carter County. Every now and then on the news they'll show a house with minor quake damage on the news....usually it is a brick house and they show how the cracks pulled the bricks away from one another leaving a gap. Once they showed a house in Carter County that 'slid' about 2" off its slab during a quake. I've always wondered what would happen in this part of the country (all the way from Illinois down to Oklahoma) if the New Madrid fault started really acting up, and I'm not sure I can imagine what it would be like to have a large and damaging quake along that fault line. Glad to hear from you - hope you and your kitties are OK. I'm on the opposite coast, but had relatives in Santa Monica for a while. A 3.4 hit while I was there once. Don't know where the epicenter was, but it sure was scary to me. I have never heard so much noise from so much quiet. There was an strange silence that just didn't seem right, afterward. My cousin lived on the top floor of a a 7 story condo bldg, right next to the highway - I think the 5. I saw a VW and a semi drive by, but I kept hearing a strang noise - like a lot of cars were driving by. Then, the silence. I love your state and would love to live there. But, the quakes would drive me nuts. Hope that's the last one - or at least not an immediate forecast. Stay safe!!

I was awake last night when I heard the news about the massive earthquake....my son and his family are still in NYC but my DDIL's family live near Tokyo and some up nearer the epicenter. Her family and friends are OK and her grandmother, who is in her 90's, live with my DDIL's aunt and uncle in central northern Japan. The are doing OK but are without electricity and water. DDIL was very upset this morning when she awoke.....but was able to contact family via e-mail. I haven't had an update since this morning but hesitate to call her....I want to keep the phone lines open in case her family is able to call. Her parents live in Chiba Prefecture which is where the refinery fires are. I am keeping them and all the people in Japan who are being affected by this horrible natural disaster in my prayers. Last Spring my DDIL and grandkids spent a month in Chiba....glad they weren't there now.
