leak repair - testing a 'shortcut'

I have a drip that needs attention in the basement heating loop (the leak is at 3/4" copper baseboard "female" to a short 2" (exposed portion) male extension (which is itself connected to an elbow).

Due to it's easy location to monitor, I'd like to experiment with a solution that doesn't require draining down the system, at least not right away. (Maybe wait til spring). It's conveniently located at a low point in the basement with a floor drain nearby, too. And if it doesn't work, then I'll drain and cut & replace.

So, how would you repair it? (rate a bit less than 2 drips/minute) Jam with epoxy, then wrap? Thoughts?
