Photobucket changes

I very much dislike the changes PB has made, and when they sent an email asking me to take a survey about it I replied, politely and truthfully, that I did not like it at all.

After several tries to post a pic, I gave up, but I really want to know how to. Hate to have to seem dense, but would someone please tell me how to do that?

I can do the Browse link, but the pics are huge and blurry.

TIA.

Sue

I don't like it neither. We used to have a choice of viewing all the photos and now we don't.

As for posting a picture on KT, use the last link of the 4 that is given.

I too absolutely hate the new beta version of Photobucket and so do many other people from all the complaints I have read. I refuse to use it any more. I went with Picture Trail, although you are limited on the free version as to how many pictures you can have stored there. I exceeded the limit, had to delete some, then decided to pay the $19.99 a year for more space. They gave me a complimentary upgrade which allows me even more storage space. I'm very happy with Picture Trail and their support is excellent in answering questions.

I sent in a complaint to PB just this afternoon telling them I'm getting empty boxes and when I get pictures the links disappear. I've been trying to get one of my pretty kitty pics for the thread here. Haven't been able to use it since they hijacked me into the new version.

Reply said they were happy to hear from me! Yeah, right.

I feel better already; I don't feel dense now that I know it isn't just me. On the survey I mentioned each and every thing about the new PB that annoys me.

Breenthumb, lucky you, at least you got a reply. I got nothing.

Any body here actually know how to make it work? I just don't want to take the time to make a time-consuming change.

I'm definitely going to change--I'm checking out other sites. Just hope I can get them out of there without losing them.

Let us know what you find. I hate the new Photobucket.

I still like Photobucket. I wish they would quit changing the format so often - but I am sure they are trying to keep up with the changes in social media and making it more friendly for that.

You can still see all your pictures you have uploaded. Just click on the LIBRARY tab. Hover over the picture you want and you will see a "gear" in the upper right side of the thumbnail of your pictures. Hover over that gear and a drop down menu will appear.

Click on GET LINKS and another menu will pop up. Click on the third line (HTML) and it will automatically copy it to your clipboard.

Come here and click paste (in the message box) to put that HTML code in your message.....

Iowagirl, I followed until you mentioned "clipboard." What is this and what's its purpose?

Sue va - I sent you an email about how I figured it out, because for some reason some of the img codes I typed wouldn't show up here. I tried several times. Let me know if it works or if PB notifies you of an easier method.

I see the gear but no picture in the box. If I click on the box I get pictures but then the gear goes away. And no codes under links--just blank lines. Do you think it has something to do with Adblock or adblock plus?

sjerin - "clipboard" is a virtual clipboard in your Windows operating system.

If you "copy" something, then "paste" it somewhere else -that data is temporarily stored in your "clipboard". You have probably used it before without know it. It can only store one thing at at time. When you "copy" something else, it replaces what was on your clipboard before.

Breenthumb - what browser are you using? First, try clearing your cookies/cache then try it. Do you have any image block add ons installed?

I tried Photobucket in Chrome, FireFox, and IE and it worked fine in all three. I do use AdBlock with FireFox and had no problem there.

Clear your cache and see if that helps.

Well, I have a mac so maybe the same sort of thing is called something else? Thanks for the explanation, Iowagirl!

I think it is called clipboard on a Mac also - you don't actually see it - it is just an application that temporarily holds data.

DO NOT get me started on how unhappy I've been with Photobucket the last few months. Just don't!

But, since you asked ... :-)

I've had a paid Pro account with Photobucket for many years. When they started making changes to the interface and "upgrading" I kept opting out of the beta version because it took several steps back from the old version. Then one day not long ago you no longer could go back.

In the new version you cannot rearranged the order of photos you've posted in the exact order you want them. When you are in an album you cannot upload photos to it without going to your library and selecting the same album you are already in. You can no longer view all images unless you're in organize view and why they call it organize when, like I said, you cannot move the images around in a custom order. And ... you can no longer share your album in slideshow mode.

Plus ... when they migrated into the new version I lost all of my notes and comments under certain images. I put a "." (period) in the title of every image I've ever shared at the KT so I don't post it again. Now I no longer have a complete record of those images. grrr.

Last week I went from 60% full to being shut down yesterday because I had used 100% of my allotted space even though I had not uploaded but a few photos. In order to gain some space back, I had to delete several albums.

A few weeks ago I decided I was going to leave PB so I've been looking into other services. Unfortunately I have auto-payment set up for my paid account and payment was due last week before I could move my files so I'm stuck for another year. They better start improving their services asap. Writing them does no good whatsoever. I've never head back from them when I've written with a question, comment, complaint or taken one of their surveys. Ever.

For those with FireFox having trouble with Photobucket, you might try reinstalling or going back to all defaults. To do this go to Help>Troubleshoot Information>Reset FireFox. When I did this the auto-copy links option which wasn't working anymore was fixed. When you do this kind of reset, a folder showing all your Add-ons is dumped on your desktop so you know what you used to have installed so you can reinstall them.

Jodi, that FF reset worked! Now everything is running really slow because of all the ads. Going to reload adblock and see if PB stays. Thanks!

When I choose a picture and hover over Gear, the choices are Share, Edit, Move, Delete, no Get Link.

Share brings up a box where the choices are Social Networks, Email, Links. The first two have a space for a message, and the last has the same IMG thumb code which copies if you click on it.

So those are no help for me. I use FF, could that be the reason, although it seems doubtful.

Schoolhouse, thanks for the email. You were clever to do it that way, Years ago I learned a good deal of HTML, and so I knew how to make that work, and tried it out at the Test Forum a while back, but there has got to be a better way.

I sure hope the PB folks get this sorted out, or they will be losing a bunch of us.

Sue-va, I use FF too and Jodi's reset worked right away. Help is at the top of your screen.

Well, I guess I was wrong. If your photo loads, go back to the album that the picture is in. Then, move the cursor to the top right corner of the photo. An icon of a gear wheel will show. When you click on this 4 links will show up. It's the 3rd link that you need to copy and paste over KT's post.

KT keep changing with which link it except. Today, it looks like it's back to the 3rd link. I just posted a turkey pot pie over Patti43's What's For Dinner thread. It worked.

Well, I can cross out one of my gripes from my PhotoBUCKET list ... they are now allowing users to reorganize their albums.

I have had a PB account for ages I rarely use it I have been using Imageshack for even more ages and it is my standard go to photo storage site, it has never gone crazy like PB has and they give so much free space I have not had any problems with that. I do go through and cull out the un needed on occasion. I have every thing set to private.
    ImageShack

It is extremely easy to use.

    Hi all,

This information is for everyone, but I wanted to specifically reply to Jodi on this one. Thanks for providing that critical feedback. I took some time to answer your questions and address the points you laid out.

In the new version you cannot rearranged the order of photos you've posted in the exact order you want them.

While you were able to organize by moving photos, albums, and whatnot, this was the case, initially. However, a few weeks back we were able to re-introduce drag and drop custom sorting under the ‘organize’ feature. If you need any help on that, I actually just put together an article covering drag and drop. You can find it here: http://bit.ly/17kJOfn

When you are in an album you cannot upload photos to it without going to your library and selecting the same album you are already in.

If you’re speaking of a ‘contextual’ upload button, you’re right (by ‘contextual’, I mean that if I’m in X album, and I click upload, X album should already be picked as my destination folder. This was how it worked on the old site). However, this will be changed very shortly. We will make the upload button at the top of the screen contextual, it will behave like it did on the old site.

You can no longer view all images unless you're in organize view and why they call it organize when, like I said, you cannot move the images around in a custom order.

Correct, we’ve moved back to pagination (page numbers) instead of infinite scroll. We were receiving a *very* high amount of negative feedback regarding infinite scroll, whereas now we receive much less negative feedback on pagination. That being said, we’re always discussing ways to improve photobucket, and the ‘view all’ idea is something being discussed.

And ... you can no longer share your album in slideshow mode.

Ah, but now you can! Check out this article on sharing your album slideshow (as well as embedding it, etc.): http://bit.ly/ZKZEhf

On that note, I just want you to know that there is a logged bug, that our team is working on, where the slideshow doesn’t present your images in the order that they’re actually arranged within your album. D’oh! I actually found that out after spending an hour arranging photos of my ridiculous dog (http://bit.ly/17kLvcU).

Plus ... when they migrated into the new version I lost all of my notes and comments under certain images. I put a "." (period) in the title of every image I've ever shared at the KT so I don't post it again. Now I no longer have a complete record of those images. grrr.

Dang. I’m sorry about that. If you wouldn’t mind, please open up a ticket and address me (Billy) directly. I want to try and see if we can recover those.

Last week I went from 60% full to being shut down yesterday because I had used 100% of my allotted space even though I had not uploaded but a few photos. In order to gain some space back, I had to delete several albums.

Again, write in so we can make sure this wasn’t in error. This does bring up a good point, though. PB has changed their subscription model, which can be viewed over here: http://photobucket.com/pricing

A few weeks ago I decided I was going to leave PB so I've been looking into other services. Unfortunately I have auto-payment set up for my paid account and payment was due last week before I could move my files so I'm stuck for another year. They better start improving their services asap. I really don’t know why you haven’t received any responses. True, they may be a bit belated from time to time, but there should always be a response to a user’s question (provided there’s nothing obscene!). We have, however, had issues where help tickets have been closed out automatically. We’re trying to troubleshoot the system we’re using, to ensure everyone receives an answer.

For those with FireFox having trouble with Photobucket, you might try reinstalling or going back to all defaults. To do this go to Help>Troubleshoot Information>Reset FireFox. Thanks for sharing that tip, Jodi. A lot of times, there are conflicts with random add-ons and extensions, that goes for any browser. It also helps to make sure to clear your cache/cookies (as you’ve probably already heard from us :P).

All that to say, thanks for your honest and critical feedback. We need it, we do take it into consideration, and we actually do want our users to have the best experience possible! The move to the new version had been difficult for some users, and we really want to do our best to make that change. Please, reach out to me in a ticket. Would you title it “For Billy, GardenWeb”? I’ll keep a look out for it.

So thanks, all, for your patience. Keep an eye out - in the coming weeks, we'll be introducing some updates to the media detail page. It's going to look a lot better, work a lot better, and just be more awesome in general.

Thank you for your reply Billy. Yes, I have noticed since my original posting that Photobucket has added back a few options that the old version had and even posted about one such improvement above. Just haven't had a chance to post again about the other. I do still have some questions and suggestions so will contact you offline.
