They would have saved me a lot of money and frustration with contractors. Anyway, my cabs are white and awhile ago, I saw a brilliant dark royal blue kitchen in a magazine. I thought maybe I'll do that some day, but don't think that's very realistic of me. However, it is time to repaint the walls, so I appreciate this discussion of color. They've been a cheerful cantaloupe and am thinking about a pale creamy yellow. The more dramatic option of the deep blue is also attractive. What to do...

Here is a shot in my bathroom. Sorry for the poor quality but the wall color is behr grape leaves, you can look at the color online and it is more accurate than what is shown in my cell phone picture. I had it in my old kitchen with the same golden oak shown in the trim in this pic and I used orange and red accents.

Get some paint samples of SW Dover White 6385, SW Creamy 7012, and SW Crisp Linen and perhaps some neighboring warm off whites. With Benjamin Moore start with samples of Woodmount Cream 204 and or the close to that chits warm off whites. Take a drawer front with you. This will require a few samples. It's impossible to recommend the right shade by viewing an on line photo. Don't worry your kitchen will be beautiful when done.

Lori, so would that be a gray with a blue undertone? :-D No, I don't do the undertone thing because that's not how color works. Undertones are purely subjective visual evaluation - it's just somebody's opinion of what they think a color looks like under whatever the lighting conditions happen to be where ever they are. Hue and hue family comes directly from a color's DNA. It's an objective color attribute - which is very different from the theories swirling around the word undertone. Every color belongs to a hue family - every color of white and every color of gray - they all belong to a hue family. And you can find a gray from every single hue in the spectrum because every vivid hue can be grayed down in neat, uniform, consistent steps all the way down to a true neutral gray. That's what I did with Aquarium. I knocked back the colorfulness, the chroma until it was a near neutral gray. And then I changed the lightness so I could give you one lighter and one darker option. The new gray needs to relate to something in the room. Pulling a gray from the bedding is a good idea - except that wall of Aquarium is quite bold. And bossy. So, I would try grays that relate specifically to the Aquarium color first because that color relationship is going to take up the most visual space. Which is why I suggested Zero Gravity and Blue Springs. Hope that helps.
