Cloudy water from new water softener

I just had my first water softener installed on Saturday evening. After installation I flushed tea-colored water out of plumbing lines before switching the bypass valve to the service position, but my water remains somewhat colored even after subsequently flushing the resin chamber. It's not really noticeable in small amounts, but if I fill a basin or bathtub I notice a trace of discoloration, different from the crystal-clear water I had before the softener was installed.

What is this stuff likely to be? Is it some sediment absorbed on the resin beads that will eventually go away with use? Or is this a fact of life with water softeners that I must either get used to or install filters to get rid of?
