What does the back of your roman or wood shade look like

I've been considering roman or wood shades for a couple of our windows, but DH dislikes what they look like on the back. We want cordless, and those I've seen in the stores, the back is a tangled mess of cords and loops. None of the websites show you what the back looks like. What do yours look like on the back?

I got the roll up so they look the same on the front and back with just the cord that wraps around. Only thing is they are not total privacy as you can see a little through the spaces. But they are fine for my application.

Thanks, Annie. I hadn't thought of those kind. Do the cords hand down when the shade is rolled up? I'm trying to avoid those dreaded cords.

I have heard that if you take off too much, they will lag before they start blooming again, but they will. I am always pinching them back to keep them full. I have seen some Greggiis get leggy because of not enough trimming back. J months sound good. I have also heard that when they get woody, and older, their "growth" nodes get wooded in so branching out becomes more difficult for them.Get them nice and bushy when they are young. That's the ticket. Mine are still blooming up a storm so I will wait till July. I like to collect the seeds.

What does your window look like over your master bath tub?

Well, you sort of have to use your imagination with this photo. It shows the tub location with a moderately sized window right over it. Widow is second floor and overlooks a lake, it's totally private. Put a pleated window shade over it, I think it's Hunter-Douglas? It's a top-down, bottom-up, which is great in a bath. If privacy was a factor, you can use the "bottom-up" feature to just have the shade cover the bottom half of the window, so you still have privacy while still maintaining a bit of the view and a bit of the natural light. Be careful with the PB shades. They do not have the mechanism to hold the shades at different heights; you must use a cleat attached to the window frame to hold the cord used to lower/raise the shade. No where on the web site does it say this :(. Since I bought one for a window (middle one) with no frame I cannot use it. I also feel these shades are inferior in the construction: plastic rings, staples in the front of the shades to hold the fabric to the frame. Of course I bought some on clearance and could not return them. Before you buy make sure you check them out in the store. The ones I purchased were not in stores. For cheaper wovens I bought from JC Penny the ones linked below. I really like them. They are tightly woven and you cannot see through them. Not lined, but also not expensive. What does the inside of your shaker style door look like?

To further put you at ease--this is a good thing! Ours don't have this (we had the option but it was more expensive so we chose to save money by not doing the raised panel) and the doors are definitely not as sturdy in feel as the original Shaker doors in our home, which are old school all wood doors that have the raised panels on the inside. I often wish we'd paid the extra to have them in the kitchen too (not that there's anything wrong with doing it the other way; it's just a much lighter-weight feel to the door).

Yes, the cords on the side that control the roll do show Joyce. You can by liners for bamboo style roman shades. You could ask at L's, they carried them last time I looked, if they cover the cords.
I've never thought about what our bamboo shades look like from the outside because we have solar shade screening and you can't see through them unless you put your nose to them.

Yes the cords hang down so I put cup hooks on the side of each window to hang the cord off of. It's not the prettiest, but it's not bad...considering mine are in my craft room...also I put a valance up so they are mostly invisible behind the valance and only see them when i need them down for light control.

Hard to take a pic with the glare. These cordless shades are in our kitchen/keeping room.

I bought these from Country Curtains. I just love them. They are lined with white fabric on the back, so that's all you see from the outside. They work like a regular roller shade. There's a hidden handle that you give a tug to raise or lower. No cords anywhere.

Dedtired, I love the looks of the ones you bought from Country Curtains. Definitely going to look into those!! And the price is right, too. Thanks!! (their website seems to be having a glitch. Can't figure out any colors or sizes right now)

I checked for cordless woven wood shades @ blinds.com, and for three small windows it was going to be almost $1000. Yikes.

Penney's carries Kirsch, Levolor, and Bali. I think all offer cordless. They have samples in the store.
