GUM (ice breakers)

As a continuation, on the sweet poison post. When I was buying gum yesterday I looked everywhere for NON-aspartame gum but didn't find any. Juicy fruit doesn't have any but it does have the yellow dye. So, I bought some Ice Breakers since I didn't see any bad stuff in it. They want you to call them for info. After chewing a few sticks I am very dissapointed in it. It feels like your chewing dirt or gravel. I think my teeth are breaking off in it. Has this happen to you or did I get a bad pack? What gum do you find safe, an good?

I'd like to try the Glee gum, have you tried that one?

I don't know how reliable this information is, but my DIL buys Beechams for our grandson as he has diet/food coloring issues. Nanny

I googled Beechams and there is no information, I haven't seen that gum or many of the old ones in years.

Ice the gum first to harden it then scrape with a blunt edge knife. The ice will harden the gum allowing it to scrape off in chunks vs getting stringy. The water will also help make the gum surface slick vs sticky. The beauty of ice is you don't have to worry about fading or staining from any solvents. Hope this helps!

I killed mine too. Planted in the fall and looked good the next year before succumbing the following spring/summer. Too big and too root bound to start for me. I did unbind the roots, but they never seemed to grow into the extremely well drained soil. I've been considering starting with a smaller one.

Thx. I actually went through a few more plants .....did not mess with them much after killing the one in this thread. I'm glad I did. I started with just scraping the top to get to a root flare. Then observing....one fir which at the exisiting soil line, did have a fine root girdler and you could tell it was making a effect and when I ended up cutting it off and unwinding it *off*, you could see the impression it left on the trunj. Which then opened up Pandora's box....I went throught a bunch of them, and ended doing some root cleanup this weekend.

Trader Joe's sells a natural chewing gum; I think it might be Glee gum.

I love IceBreakers gum. I have know idea if it has aspartame, etc. in it though..

The crunchies are flavor crystals - it keeps the gum tasting good for longer.

I don't like the flavor cystrals at all! it feels like dirt & grit and I think its my teeth breaking.........and it has before.

Hey! I'm so sorry; One of those Senior Moments. The Gum is "Beemons" and the google site says that the ??? company only makes Beemons and Black Jack once in a while. I do know that it is often hard to find.

I used to like the cinnamon flavor that Extra had. I can't find it around here anymore. They probably stopped making it.
