I just had a S305 Ticor Undermount Sink installed (based on your pictures, I'm sure the strainer baskets must be the same). I have a GD so I had to choose between the two strainers. The plumber thought both were fine and didn't recommend one over the other. DW liked the regular better so that's what we went with. It works very well so far and will stopper without leaking. Incidentally, I kept the basket strainer as a backup and the lid to that fits on the regular strainer and gives an extra tight seal. HTH.

I don't know that brand but can offer my reaction to the grid question. We recently replaced a double bowl 22x30 inch sink with the same size single bowl sink from the Kohler Vault line. You can probably find better deals but we needed a top-mount that would fit our existing cut-out without requiring a new countertop. We had to pay extra for the grid and I regretted having ordered it. In fact, it shipped later than the sink and I was prepared to cancel the order but it had already shipped. However, I love the grid! The sink is 10 inches deep. I can leave something to drain on the grid or put a small cutting board standing up along an edge to drip dry without it being visible. I can set a large colander in the sink and dump in a pot of pasta, and the inch or so that the grid elevates the colander allows the water to drain into the sink without backing up around the colander. There's also plenty of room to put a stack of dishes in one part of the sink while using the other side to rinse veggies or fill a pot with water. I have an adjustable over-the-sink strainer that's somewhere between an oval and a rectangle. It's great for rinsing fruit or vegetables or draining tofu (or whatever you drain!) while there's other stuff going on in other parts of the sink.This was not a fancy accessory. It's something I already had. They retail for about $20. So I'd recommend both a grid and, if you're still looking at the various sink configurations, taking a look at the single bowls. Being able to put an entire cookie sheet or a wok into the large single bowl sink is another major plus. I don't mean to harangue you if you've decided on a double bowl, but thought I'd mention my experience in case you hadn't given the configuration any thought.

Anny-2009...the puddling question I answered on your thread (no, no puddling). As to replacing the Ticor strainers w/Kohler strainers...I did exactly that. The strainers that come w/the Ticor appeared to be the average strainers that I've always had...they generally did the job but the strainers didn't always seal completely w/o some wiggling/pushing and eventually needed to be replaced. I heard such good things here about the Kohler DuoStrainers that I ordered them for both my sinks...and was very pleasantly surprised at how hefty and heavy duty they were/seemed. I went ahead and used them w/no "conversion" needed...the sink drain holes on the Ticor sinks are standard so there were no problems interchanging them w/the Kohler DuoStrainers. My experience w/the DuoStrainers to-date is that they work wonderfully well...they seal completely and, since they have "locks" for both closed & unclosed, there's no accidental closing while using the sink (something that happened much too frequently for me with my old kitchen sink strainers). [BTW...Closing the strainers is simple, just lift slightly (to get it out of the open "lock", turn it, & drop...no pushing in or fiddling.] Scratching of divider....I just checked & yes, there are scratches after a year of use on the divider but I didn't really notice them until I looked. I don't think there's much you can do to keep them from eventually getting scratched...polished or not...but eventually there will be a patina and you won't notice them. You could try Bar Keepers Friend to see if it will take them out or make them less noticeable but my opinion is to let the patina develop. I also have plenty of room under the bigger/deeper (9" deep) bowl of my Ticor for the GD. No, there's no room for a trash can on that side, but I really dislike trash cans under sinks and have a 2-bin trash pullout next to it...I love the trash pullout! I haven't had any problems w/my sink so I cannot attest to warranty issues good or bad. BTW...you asked on your thread about the direction of the "brush" on Ticor sinks...it's vertical (front to back).

The cleaning issue on the mesh strainers may also come back around to the disposal issue...we don't have one, so running water over the strainer to rinse it doesn't work in our case (though I've been known to do it in a pinch if it's sauce or something that really isn't shake-off-able). I can definitely see that any strainer cleaning would be much easier with a disposal (but then you probably wouldn't need a strainer as much?) Don't know about the Duostrainer fitting other sinks, though it's promising that it worked with buehl's. Our setup is all Kohler, mostly b/c I read some reports of people having issues using other drains on the Kohler cast iron sinks, and figured if I was getting the Kohler drain I should just get the whole shebang...got grief from my husband about this for the cost (I had no idea what that stuff was supposed to cost, and it wasn't crazy expensive---maybe $100 for the drain/strainer/p-trap/cutting board, on top of $300 for the sink?---but I gather you can get drains and pipes at the hardware store for far less). Our plumber laughed at me and said basically no one buys the Kohler parts other than the sink, but he was then quite impressed by the quality of the parts when he got them out to install (apparently we have the nicest P-trap around, who knew), so I didn't feel too badly about it! As a system the drain + strainer works beautifully but don't know how it would work with other sinks.
