Please help me choose a paint for my new living room

Here is a photo of my living room. I am going to be installing new dark hardwood floors and ripping out the kitchen that is jetting out into the living space. I have loads of remodeling to do!

I cannot seem to find a paint color I like for this room. I want to keep it light and airy. I am thinking a buttery cream or a buttery tan. I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

With beautiful windows like that I can't help but think of bringing a color of the outdoors in.
Have you seen BM's Baby Turtle? Bit of tan with a hint of green to it.
Or what about BM's Wilmington Tan - it is a really nice color (I have this in my bedroom).
Or another nice color is BM Desert Tan - this one is on the lighter side but it is very pretty (I just purchased a can yesterday).

It is hard to say really without seeing your furnishings or an area rug if you are planning on having one.

Good luck it really is a beautiful area. Have you seen the color threads in the gallery section? Super helpful.

I found one!!! YAY! I always feel so relieved when I finally find the right paint color. I am using Almond Paste from Lowes. I had them mix it in Valspar for me.

I will post some after pics.

The wall color appears to be a very light blue and the floor appears to be gray. Echoing Beverly, you could stay neutral with the upholstery and add some color with an area rug. Here are a few rug options with a grey sofa and patterned skirted swivel chairs. Note that all the rugs have blue in them. The color is also repeated on the chairs. For curtains, simple linen curtains in a crisp white.

I like your big squash colored chair — looks very inviting and comfy! — so I would keep it and then add another interesting, comfy chair in some nice color and get a much larger rug that pulled together all the colors in an interesting way —- and I would get a much bigger lamp, plus the right pillows and art. (I think all these rugs come in big sizes, not sure) Or I might ditch the 3 chairs and keep the 2 reds and then get 2 of any of these (except the blue, which I would only keep if I was keeping the orange-y chair) But I would still get a bigger rug to define the space and bring everything into the center and a bigger lamp and figure out what art I wanted over the sofa. It could be something as simple as black and white line drawings framed in black. In general I think the sofa is too close to the wall and everything should come forward a bit to ”float” the conversation area more in space. Instead of a corner table + lamp, might be nice to try a floor lamp that arcs into the space.

I would do white like the shades & wood work. Hang the rod just below the crown molding and 5" wider than the window. Your tables are too high to be end tables but at least pull them off the wall. Looks like the lamp shade is on the wall. I would switch the black pillows on the chairs to some with the gold in them.

Sorry, not sure why the picture didn't post. Here it is again. RL, I like the round pendant and the pleated one in your first set of suggestions. Is that a Nelson bubble pendant? Also, I should have given a few dimensional details. The table is 36" wide at the ends, 40" wide in the center. Ceiling height is 92".

BM Pittsfield Buff would look lovely in your room. It would give it a beautiful sunny warm feel. Dark wood floors and white trim would set it off perfectly.

What colors are you thinking for furniture?

Well I decided against the other paint and bought BM White Linen. For some reason I really want to keep it light and airy. I can add color with my furniture and rugs... art and window treatment. My kitchen will be wide open to the room too and I am considering doing the island in a maple and the cabs against the wall in a cream.

It is so hard to make a decision.

Thanks Carol for the input! I wished I had checked out that color while I was at BM today!
